In his days on the basketball court, Norb Witte was mostly unstoppable. Far removed from those days, cancer finally stopped him, but not before he stood toe to toe with it and gave it his best shots.
Norb was a big guy and his refusal to bow to cancer made distinctly clear that he had a big heart as well. It was in 2001 when, due to the disease, Norb had his voice box removed.

It's amazing the stories that come up and even more so to think that they are all completely original. Some say there are truly only several different stories available to tell but that these three to fourare embellished enough to make them different.
Then there are the classics, the tales told for what seems like forever. Take for instance, Shakespeare. His plays and sonnets are considered the best ever written in the English language. But what if he wasn't the actual author?

Welcome to the fabulous V-Day edition of Chillin’. Let me start by saying that first of all, finding a bow and arrow holder for this picture was taxing, but after the dust had settled, I think I really pulled off the Cupid look nicely. Thanks again to Derek, my awesome tech man behind the scenes.
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone. I couldn’t resist putting out a column today about all the sports stars with names that relate to the day. I hope you enjoy reading as much as I enjoyed researching.

In true top ten style, I’ve thought out my top NBA teams...right now. Records help, but what this list is really trying to say is who do you not want to play right now.
As all lists can do, this is subject to change in a matter of days. If your team is not on here, feel free to email me and give me your top ten.

HONORABLE MENITION: Boston Celtics and Atlanta Hawks

It stands there tall and somewhat overpowering at one of the main downtown intersections. In its heyday, when the downtown was vibrant, full of retail shops and shoppers, the corner building was alive with hustle and bustle.
Holthouse Drug Co. was the place where one could purchase a greeting card, writing materials, "notions" (Never did figure out that word.) and just about anything imaginable. And, of course, you could get your prescriptions filled with a smile from people like Louie and Bob and Dan.

Note to the folks at OCRA: H-E-L-P!
Help us, the city officials and residents of Decatur, to get rid of that old, old building down by  the city police station before someone gets seriously injured ... or a whole lot worse.
