Chillin' with Dylan- Sectional football

    We’ve been here before.
Bellmont entered last year’s sectional sporting a worse record than this season when they defeated Western to win the sectional title starting the playoffs at 3-5.
The Braves sit at 4-4 and have looked lost at times this season in the second half but also had moments of clarity, particularly in the passing game, that have led to wins against teams they should beat.

Okay, no ranting. Been done here before on the same subject. More than once. And, obviously, it does no good. So let's try to hold down the anger, the fury, and the cussing, to say nothing of the ^#$@*&* blood pressure. (Oops.)

Nearly everyone at one time or another has read a comic book. More often than not we associate those drawn color images with our childhood and leave it at that. The fact is that comics are no longer a source of entertainment for children for the most part, instead covering topics like drug addiction, alcoholism, homosexuality and more.

Alex Rodriguez is the highest paid player in professional baseball. He is also one of the most controversial thanks to the admission to steroids before the 2010 season started.
In 2007, A-Rod signed a ridiculous 10-year $252 million contract with New York. Now, at age 38, Rodriguez is swiftly declining down a path of eeeesh and the Yankees are in the middle of a playoff push.

"Don't it always seem to go
"That you don't know what you've got
    "Till it's gone
    "They paved paradise
"And put up a parking lot"
Those lyrics from Joni Mitchell's "Big Yellow Taxi" back in the day always seem to say a lot. A lot of lot!

It's sad to think that an entire generation has grown up with no clue as to what horror really means. Today's youth thinks of horror as either serial killers with personality or ghostly encounters done with a hand-held camera.

Chillin' with Dylan- Ball State football

September 27, 2012

By DYLAN MALONE
Like the baseball teams headed to play at Parkview Field in the spring, the football teams in the ACAC take a trip to “big boy town” to battle at Ball State’s football facility in Muncie for an experience many on the field will not feel again after high school.
There will be four games played on Saturday with the Jets opening up against the Southern Wells Raiders, then Bluffton and Heritage, Leo and Woodlan, and the night cap will be South Adams and Garrett.

Now we’re getting down to the nitty-gritty. Fewer than 50 days remain until the November general election.
And while the presidential race is grabbing most of the headlines, let’s focus today on a race of near equal importance to Hoosiers. Indiana voters this year will select a new governor — choosing from Republican Mike Pence, Democrat John Gregg and Libertarian Rupert Boneham.

This latest incident of picking on the Amish brings back some sad and tragic memories of what can happen.
It was in 1979 that Adams County teenagers got their kicks by riding around the county and throwing things at Amish folks in their buggies, things like rocks and pieces of tile. They were harassing, the teens said, a bunch of "clapes," a word many of us had never before heard. It apparently comes from putting clay with ape, a derogatory term for a farmer.
