Chillin' with Dylan— Running as a sport...phew

October 16, 2013

By DYLAN MALONE
Leave it to a bunch of high school athletes to make me feel old, slow and fat.
I watched in amazement as Bailey Beery and a slew of Starfire boys breeze past the rest of the running field at Bellmont on Tuesday night.

“His story is inspirational, indeed,” praised Bellmont boys CC coach Randy Hisner.

The miracle against Homestead

By DYLAN MALONE
I had the rare opportunity to see history first hand on Friday night.
It doesn’t happen to me often. Usually I’m looking the other way when something amazing happens. In a related story, I never get to see a reckless driver get their come-up-ans from local authorities...

A new hat, and a nifty parking space

September 19, 2013

Today I sit down to fill this space wearing a new hat — that of managing editor of the Decatur Daily Democrat.
I appreciate the confidence shown by Publisher Ron Storey in selecting me for this position, and I do not take lightly the responsibilities that go with the new title.
