Chillin with Dylan- Why Homestead and Leo should just get out!

I had the opportunity to partake in the ACAC tournament luncheon yesterday at the Back 40 Junction and it reminded me how much I love good food. It’s like Thanksgiving dinner in a buffet line there every time I go.
That’s not all I was reminded of, thank goodness.
No, among all of the conversations between principals, athletic directors, coaches, and media members, the one that stuck out most in my mind was the one about conference realignment.

Hop's Heresy- Another title for Baker, Melcher

I've heard a lot of theories about Bellmont's incredible charge to the 2008 3A state football championship. A few were: the stars were aligned, everything fell into place; only a few players had hangnails (no injuries); they were just plain lucky to get by Concordia in sectional; and some great teams got knocked off prior to the finals.

There was a time when the thinking here said that disaster planning was something of a bureaucratic thing, something to occupy the time of all the government wonks and pencil pushers.
You know, the folks in those jobs that pay well but demand little. Draw up lots of maps, put together some impressive Power Points, and attend lots and lots of meetings. Shazam! We have a plan!

The annual, two-week shotgun portion of Indiana’s deer hunting season came to a close on December 2. While this year’s official total harvest will not be calculated until next year, following the completion of muzzleloader and special antlerless seasons in January, a spokesman for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources on Tuesday did reveal some interesting facts about this year’s hunting season.

With so many remakes and sequels being made these days it's nice to have some being made that are actually well done. More often than not these types of films are rushed into production and rarely come close to being as original or fun as the first films. Such is not the case with MEN IN BLACK 3.

Getting excited about IU playing Rutgers in hoops? Bet they're jumping up and down out in Iowa in expectation of hosting Maryland in football in a few years. And surely the folks in Columbus are already painting their faces and putting their bucknuts around their necks in anticipation of Rutgers' football team coming to town down the road.

It's been years since the theme of bootleggers was the subject matter in movies. Back in the '70s there was a rush of movies about this subject, ranging from the low-budget MOONRUNNERS (the movie later turned into the hit TV series THE DUKES OF HAZARD) to the even lower budgeted MOONSHINERS. Even Burt Reynolds took on the subject in WHITE LIGHTNING. But then it kind of disappeared. That all changed when reality TV took a shine (pun intended) to the topic and the film LAWLESS is a result of that renewed interest.

Chillin' with Dylan-MLB Hall of Fame

Baseball inducted Barry Larkin into the Hall of Fame in January. He was the only one.
The MLB experienced the first wave of players who had either admitted to or were strongly accused of using steroids in their careers. A panel of baseball writers and professionals were asked to vote for up to 10 players on the ballot of 27 pros. Any player who received at least 75% of the vote earned a spot in Cooperstown.
