Tickets for Saturday’s IHSAA Volleyball State Championships slated for Ball State will be on sale at Bellmont High School starting on Wednesday, November 3, during school hours. Tickets will be $9.00 per person.
Tickets are required for those in kindergarten and above. The Bellmont Squaws will be playing in the third match of the afternoon with game-time scheduled for no sooner than 5:30 p.m. at Worthen Arena on the campus of Ball State.
"There is a state of urgency because it could be the last game, and you'd better dive and get that ball because it could be the deciding point," stated Bellmont junior setter Steph Shoup, trying to explain the incredible statistical numbers from Bellmont's huge win over Yorktown in the match to go state Saturday night at Plymouth.
Shoup had 45 assists and 13 digs, and there were 64 kills by a variety of Bellmont hitters.
Monday's Decatur City Council meeting, bumped up a day so as not to conflict with today's election, was more of an educational affair than a business meeting.
Webelos Scouts from Den 3 of Cub Scout Pack 3070, their leaders and some parents attended the meeting in City Hall, and the boys were given a full agenda by Mayor John Schultz. The Scouts got together with the mayor and council to talk and ask questions before the meeting, sat in on the meeting, then fired off a few more questions near the end of the meeting.
Officials of North Adams Schools have established the North Adams School Fund (NASF) within the Adams County Community Foundation to offer assistance and support to needy local students who attend NACS schools.
Wylie Sirk, North Adams school superintendent, said in a news release, "The discussion for the fund began last school year. Since 2008, our community has witnessed a growing concern for families which have experienced serious financial challenges.
Adams County voters go the the polls on Tuesday to make decisions in a number of local races, in addition to state and national races.
The polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Adams County.
Adams County Democratic Party Chairwoman Barb Engle has announced that any Democratic voter who wants a ride to a polling place anywhere in Adams County on Tuesday should call 724-7408.
Norwell placed third and Heritage 10th in Class C in Saturday's annual Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) finals for high school marching bands.
The 38th annual event was held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
Also in Class C, Concordia finished eighth.
DeKalb was eighth and Fort Wayne North Side ninth in Class B.
Homestead took a third in Class A, for the largest schools.

PLYMOUTH — Down 23-19 in the second game after losing the first one, Bellmont, led by Payton Schultz, came alive, zoomed past a stunned Yorktown team with six straight points to tie the match, then won the next two for the 2010 Plymouth Semistate championship and a spot in next Saturday's 3A State Championship match set for Ball State.

The new format of the tournament has eight teams entering play at Worthen Arena on the campus of Ball State University in Muncie with four classes set to crown a champion. Worthen Arena has been home to the IHSAA state finals for the last three years with Bellmont winning a 3A championship in the initial year there in 2007.
Theodore Glenn “Ted” Hill, 82, of Decatur, a former member of the Decatur City Council, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2010, at his residence.
He was born on July 2, 1928, in Decatur to Glenn V. and Marie (Rowley) Hill.
He married Marian K. (Bashara) Giessler on August 16, 1975; she survives in Decatur.
At 3:35 p.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2010, William L Huffman Sr. was called by our Lord and Master to enter into eternal life, where he is finally free from pain and suffering. He had been in poor health for a long time and had suffered terribly in the past three months.
He was born on January 25, 1939, to Morse Pete and Luella Maxine Stetler Huffman. Both parents are deceased.
