"Stop" always trumps "yield" at rural railroad crossings.
That's what Adams County Engineer Tim Barkey told the Adams County commissioners on Monday as he revealed that the CSX rail company recently erected "yield" signs by the county's "stop" signs at four crossings north of Decatur.

Rev. Elbert A. Smith Jr., 87, passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2010, at Kingston Care Center in Fort Wayne.
Born in Riverhead, New York, Elbert was a pastor with First Presbyterian Church in Fort Wayne for 13 years and retired in 1997. He was also a teacher at Bellmont High School for 17 years.
He was an alumnus of Centre College in Danville, Kentucky, and of Louisville Presbyterian Seminary, where he received his master's degree.
Charles D.A. “Chuck” Kruger, 68, of Decatur, passed away at 5:17 p.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2010, in Adams Memorial Hospital.
He was born on April 1, 1942, to Clarence and Opal (Summers) Kruger in Fort Wayne. They are deceased.
He married Judi Myers on March 1, 1984.
Dorothy J. Pollock, 77, of Decatur, passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2010, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
Dorothy was born on August 1, 1933, to Logan R. and Pearl A. (Strohl) Baer in Van Wert, Ohio.
On June 12, 1954, she married James G. Pollock.
