Brian K. Buroker

November 5, 2010

    Brian K. Buroker, 53, of Swayzee, Indiana, a former Indiana State Police trooper and investigator who lived in Decatur for 11 years, died suddenly at 4:57 p.m. on Tuesday, November 2, in Decatur.
    He was born in Marion, Indiana, to Robert and M. Teil Wilson Buroker, who still reside there.
    He married Brenda J. Wilson on July 21, 1979, and she also survives. The Buroker family lived in Swayzee the past 19 years.

Willodean M. Grace Foster

    Willodean M. Grace Foster, 84, a former Monroeville resident, died at 9:54 p.m. Monday in Hospice Home of Fort Wayne.
    She was born to Martin L. Gladys Beerbower Lehman.
    She married Richard L, Grace, who passed away on October 14, 1961. She married John W. Foster, who passed away on November 28, 2005.
    Willodean was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Monroeville and enjoyed sewing, quilting, and knitting.

Neal L. Hart

November 5, 2010

    Neal L. Hart, 46, of rural Decatur, died Thursday in Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.    He was born in Adams County on February 17, 1964, to Robert and Janice Bailey Hart. His father is deceased; his mother, now Janice Barr, lives in Monroeville.
    Other survivors include a daughter, Tessa M. Hart of Monroeville and two sons, Tyler L. Hart of Decatur and Tanner L. Hart of Monroeville.

Gertrude M. Heine

November 5, 2010

    Gertrude M. Heine, 82, left her earthly home on Thursday, November 4, 2010, and now rests in the arms of her Savior in Heaven.     
    Born on September 14, 1928, in Decatur, she was the daughter of Gustav and Selma Krueckeberg.
    She married Gaylord Heine on April 16, 1950, and resided in New Haven.
    She was a dedicated member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, New Haven, and an active member and past president of the Ladies Society and various circles.

Gaynel I. Lankenau

    Gaynel Irene Lankenau, 75, of Castle Rock, Colorado, died Tuesday in Sky Ridge Medical Center at Lonetree, Colorado.
    Funeral arrangements are pending at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, following services in Colorado.

David E. Tricker

    David Edward Tricker of Indianapolis, 60 years of age, passed away in the early hours of November 2 in the company of his loving family.
    He is survived by his wife, Janet; five children, Nate [Rachel], Jason [Sara], Matt [Robin], Ben [Eleigh], and Jenny [Pete]; and nine grandchildren, Sam, Hannah, Owen, Max, Isaiah, Ian, Eli, Tad, and Asher.

Squaws, Brebeuf Braves take long win skeins to finals

    There are a lot of similarities between the two finalists in the class 3A state championship match Saturday evening at Ball State University's Worthern Arena.
    Both Bellmont and Brebeuf bring excellent records to the plate with Brebeuf at 31-2 and Bellmont at 34-4. Ironically, of the few losses, both teams suffered defeats at the hands of Yorktown during the regular season. Bellmont repaid the Tigers with a 3-1 setback in the finals of the Plymouth semi-state last Saturday.

GOP takes all major county races

    The Grand Old Party had a grand old evening in Adams County Tuesday, sweeping all contested county races in the November general election balloting.
    Republican candidates posted what had to be considered upset victories over three sitting Democrats, held onto two other contested seats, and filled a pending vacancy in the county sheriff's office (see related story).

Rekeweg breezes to win

    Republican Shane Rekeweg breezed to an easy victory Tuesday in general election balloting and will be the next sheriff of Adams County.
    Rekeweg captured just over 50 percent of the vote throughout the county, while two Democrats — one running as an independent candidate — split the remainder of the ballots. The 39-year-old Rekeweg polled 4,805 votes during Tuesday's balloting, while Democrat Jon Fuhrman garnered 2,876 votes and independent Terry Nevil attracted 1,881 ballots.

Patricia M. Morgan Carpenter

    Patricia M. Morgan Carpenter, 83, of Decatur, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2010, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
    She was born in Adams County on April 30, 1927, to Ivan B. and Marie V. (Dager) Barkley.
    On November 27, 1947, Pat married Paul E. Morgan; he passed away on May 8, 2005. In May of 2008, she married Wayne R. Carpenter and he survives.
