Rita A. Runyon, 72, formerly of rural Decatur, died on Sunday in Meadowvale Health and Rehabilitation Center at Bluffton.
She was born in Adams County on March 14, 1939, to Kenneth H. and Mary Jane Kunkel Runyon.
Surviving are two brothers, Kaye K. Runyon of Peoria, Arizona, and David R. Runyon of Guam.

Daniel Meyer fit right in among the state's best football players Friday night at North Central as he took his turn at middle linebacker and played special teams for the North squad.
The former Bellmont All-Stater, one of the top half-dozen football players ever to compete for Bellmont High, made four tackles and was involved in a lot of action. He also looked sharp in special teams.
Volleyballer Alyssa Keller of Adams Central and all Central athletes will be back in the swing of things as practices will begin on Aug. 1 for the 2011 season.
Adams Central Athletic Director Rick Minnich announced today that fall practices will begin on Monday, August 1.
High school football conditioning practices will be held from 9 a.m. to 10:30, and from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Okay, Adams County 4-H Fair fans, let's test your knowledge of an important fact about this year's event, with the temperature as hot as it is.
The question is this: how many electric fans are in use at the fairgrounds?
The Daily Democrat made an unscientific study of this vital matter on Monday and came up with these numbers, which may well be challenged by a recount or two:
— 48 fans in the cattle barn.
Well, at least we got some rain.
Amid this week's sweltering heat wave, a thunderstorms rolled through Decatur shortly before 3 a.m. today, dropping some much-needed rain on the area. Decatur weather station officials reported a measurement of .34 of an inch.
A man described by Decatur police as being white, approximately six feet tall, slender build and brown hair, held up the Walgreen's Pharmacy located in the 100 block of N. 13th Street at 8:40 Monday evening.
Police said the suspect approached the pharmacy counter at the store about 20 minutes before it was scheduled to close and passed a note to the pharmacist in charge. The note said he had a weapon and demanded all of the pain killers that Walgreen's had in the pharmacy.
Calvin E. Smitley 81, of Decatur, passed away on Saturday July 16, 2011, at his residence.
Calvin was born on November 3, 1929, in Mercer County, Ohio, to George W. and Effie (Yoder) Smitley.
He married Norma J. Vorhees on May 29, 1947. She passed away on September 8, 1990.
He retired in 1991 from Dana Corporation in Fort Wayne after almost 44 years of service.
He was a member of Moose Lodge 1311 and the Eagles Lodge, both in Decatur.
Dolores M. Harvey, 86, formerly of Bluffton, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2011, at Swiss Village Retirement Community in Berne.
She was born on January 3, 1925, in Adams County to Milo and Mary (Hirschy) Fuchs.
She married Dale A. Harvey on June 17, 1944; he died on November 19, 2006.
She is survived by a brother, Delbert Fuchs of Berne.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a sister, and two brothers.
Lewis L. "Boose" Painter, 58, of Willshire, Ohio, died at 4:51 p.m. Saturday in Community Health Professionals In-Patient Hospice Center at Van Wert, Ohio.
He was born to Charles L. and Janette Crites Painter. His father died in November of 1990; his mother lives in Willshire.
On November 10, 1973, he married Gayla J. Marbaugh; she also survives.
Ronald D. Ellis, 61, of Decatur, died at 3:56 a.m. Friday in his residence.
He was born on April 14, 1950, in Decatur to Glenn L. and Hazel M. Buchanan Ellis. His father is deceased; his mother lives in Decatur.
He married Vickie Painter on February 28, 1976, in Decatur and she also survives.
He graduated from Bellmont High School in 1968 and was employed as a service manager at the Micromatic plant in Berne for more than 26 years.
