Jacob K. Hilty, 87, of rural Berne, died Sunday at the James Hilty residence, rural Berne.
He was born in Adams County on December 27,1923, to John K. and Katie Coblentz Hilty.
Survivors include his wife, Lydiann; three daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Martha L.) Hilty of rural Berne, Mrs. Andy (Edna) Stutzman of rural Monroe, and Susan Hilty of rural Berne; and six sons, LaVerne L., David L., Jerry, and James Hilty, all of rural Berne; LeRoy Hilty of rural Monroe; and Paul Hilty of rural Decatur.
Manuel John Lopez, 56, of Decatur, died at 8:15 p.m. ON Thursday, September 29, 2011.
He married Kathleen Kay Mendez and she survives.
Other survivors are two sons, Daniel P. Lopez and Michael James Lopez of Decatur; one daughter, Nicole C. Lopez of Decatur; two sisters, Delores Lopez of Chicago and Mrs. Lupe (Carmen) DeLaRosa of Decatur; one brother, Francisco Lopez Jr. (and wife Pauline) of Fort Worth, Texas; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Joseph J. Schwartz, 28, of rural Decatur, died Friday of injuries suffered in the collision of a van and a horse-drawn buggy in rural Decatur.
He was born to Joe L.D. and Elizabeth Schwartz Schwartz, who survive.
Other survivors are his wife, Ann; one son, Jonathan J.S. Schwartz, at home; and two daughters, Saraetta J.S. Schwartz and Dena J.S. Schwartz, both at home.
Randy L. Weiland, 32, of Decatur, passed away at his residence on Thursday, September 29, 2011.
Randy was born on August 15, 1979, in Adams County to Robert A. Weiland Jr. and Sandra K. (Johnson) Kolter.
On September 18, 2011, Randy married Shaunna Flynn.
Randy was presently working for Wayne Metals in Markle and was formerly employed at McBride and Son Welding and Fleetwood Motors, both in Decatur.
MONROE — The Lady Starfires of South Adams gave the heavily favored Lady Jets of Adams Central a run for their money at the Hangar, but at the end of the night, AC was left standing with a 3-0 sweep of the Stars with the scores 25-20, 25-13, 25-17.

Adams Memorial Hospital has been named as one of the top 100 critical care access hospitals in the United States, according to information released Wednesday at the National Rural Health Association’s Critical Access Hospital Conference being held in Kansas City, Missouri.
Adams Health Network President and Chief Executive Officer Tom Nordwick delivered the news to the AHN board of trustees Wednesday night at their monthly meeting, saying “this is truly something we can all be really proud of.”
A group called Decatur Friends of the Theatre is being created to start a community theater and, at a meeting on Thursday evening attended by 13 people, two more meeting dates were scheduled.
The theatre group is an outgrowth of the success of the locally-written and locally-directed play "C.O.D. (Cuties of Decatur)" in August. Some 360 people saw the play on its four show dates and, after expenses were paid, "C.O.D." had a profit of just over $2,000.
