The new year is just around the corner, and Adams Central Community Schools’ board of education will find that with the new year will come a new board member. Board member Dave Fox will resign from the board effective Dec. 31. The board has 30 days from that date to fill the vacancy. If no district resident submits an application, the seat will be filled through an appointment by Adams County Circuit Court Judge Chad Kukelhan.
Due to a short staff tonight, the DDD webcasting of the Bellmont/East Noble girls basketball contest has been cancelled. Apologies for those fans who were hoping to see the Squaws in action tonight. The next webcast will be Tuesday night when the girls host Blackhawk Christian.
In a meet where nine weight classes failed to produce the proposed face-offs, Adams Central accepted three forfeits and won seven of 11 contests versus South Adams in a 50-18 ACAC win Thursday at the Stardome.
"We kinda figured that (coach Barry) Humble had some tricks up his sleeve. He's trying to get matchups and get as many wins as he can, and we tried to counter a couple of those, and I think our depth won out in the end," summed up Central's first-year coach Tony Currie.

The controversial policy regarding the acceptance of part-time students that has been circling over the heads of the North Adams Board of Trustees the past several months was finally put to rest Tuesday evening.

Bellmont High School Principal Kim Harsh Hiatt has announced Monica Miller has been named a Commended Student in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Miller, a senior at BHS, is the daughter of Charles and Jacqueline Miller. She was honored for achieving high scores on the PSAT test as a junior.
The St. Joe Commodores’ girls combined seventh/eighth grade girls basketball team avenged a pair of losses from earlier in the year to claim the girls county championship earlier this month.
In the semi-final game, St. Joe faced a tough Adams Central team but held on for a 36-31 win.
