CANCUN, Mexico (AP) — A scorching summer that killed thousands in Russia and exceptionally mild winters in the Arctic were among extreme weather events that have put 2010 on track to be one of the three hottest years on record, U.N. experts said Thursday.
The data from the World Meteorological Organization show that the last decade was the warmest ever, part of a trend that scientists attribute to man-made pollution trapping heat in the atmosphere.

New Hope Church now has new quarters.
The nondenominational church founded in December of 2006 had held worship services since that time in a former business location at Village Green Shopping Center, but recently made a big move by buying the buildings at the former Grey Goose Golf Club here, plus seven and a half acres of land on that site.
Pizza King in Decatur will host United Way Day this Friday, with five percent of all the restaurant's sales that day going to the United Way of Adams County campaign.
Hours for the special event will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m.
Pizza King owner/operator Steve Christner said United Way volunteers wiil "bussing" tables during the special hours.
The United Way campaign has a goal of $202,010.
Mary A. "Pete" Eady, 55, of Decatur, died on Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
She was born on March 24, 1955, in Adams County to Leo F. and Martha B. (Christen) Faurote, who are deceased.
On April 30, 1983, she married Jeffrey A. Eady.
Mary was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Decatur and the Women of St. Mary's.
She worked as an investigator for the Washington Township Trustee.
INDIANAPOLIS — South Adams all-purpose back Taylor LeFever, quarterback Dustin Wanner and punter Chaise Moore all were given Honorable-Mention on the Class A Associated Press All-State football team released Wednesday afternoon.
No other players from the county were named to the AP team. Norwell's Jeff Shatto, the Knights' strong tight end, was put on the 3A All-State first team.
BOSTON (AP) — Boston College coach Steve Donahue’s style of play is starting to pay off quickly. Just ask Indiana coach Tom Crean.
Reggie Jackson scored 27 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out four assists to lift Boston College to an 88-76 win over Indiana on Wednesday in an Atlantic Coast Conference/Big Ten Challenge matchup.
The victory improved the Eagles (5-2) to 5-0 against the Big Ten since joining the ACC. The Eagles are the only unbeaten school in the series of either conference.

Mary A. Eady, 55, of Decatur, died Tuesday in Lutheran Hospital at Fort Wayne.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Haggard and Sefton Funeral Home, Decatur.
A last period charge by the Bellmont Squaws Tuesday night fell just short as a strong Concordia Cadet team escaped from the Teepee with a 42-38 non-conference girls basketball victory.
