Walter E.L. Schwartz, 16, Monroe, died Wednesday morning in a construction accident.

Funeral services were held today in Rockford, Ohio, for Decatur native Matthew Alan Ford, a Rockford resident who died May 25 at the age of 50.
He was the son of Ronald W. and Jacqueline A. (Snyder) Ford, former Decatur residents now residing in Spring Lake, Michigan.
Matthew Ford also is survived by his wife, Anna, and seven children.
Members of Berne City Council agreed on Tuesday evening to share in the cost of creating a combined network that will allow all law enforcement agencies in the county to instantly have access to each other's criminal records and data bases.
Berne became the final piece in the puzzle that will see police forces in Decatur, Geneva and Monroe enter into an agreement with the Adams County Sheriff's Department to implement the Sunguard Management System network.
Adams County Engineer Tim Barkey told commissioners Tuesday that bridge inspections will underway during the next month.
Inspectors will be looking at bridges in Adams County that are over 20 feet in length, which includes approximately 160 bridges in the county.

The Decatur Post Office has announced that it collected 6,300 pounds of food during the 20th annual national food drive to "Stamp Out Hunger" on May 12 — the largest one-day food drive in the nation.
A Decatur letter carrier said that this is the most food that has been collected in the area since the food drive began in the '90s.

Adams County Democrats have until June 30 to hold caucuses and make appointments to fill vacancies on the November general election ballot.
According to a spokeswoman in the county clerk's office, the caucuses must be held and candidates selected by that date. Independent candidates have until July 2 to file petitions of candidacy to seek any countywide office.
Decatur resident Curtis Rose recently attended a celebration in Fort Wayne marking the joining of Taizhou, China, as a sister city, during which one of his sculptures was presented as a gift to Xue Shaoxian, chairman of the Taizhou Municipal People's Congress.
Rose, whose wooden sculptures are based on the Mobius band math concept, said he received a call from the Fort Wayne Museum of Art informing him that a member of Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry's office had purchased one of his sculptures to be presented during the ceremony.
