The Adams County Crimestoppers took on staffers from K-105 radio in a fundraising game Monday night at Bellmont High School. The drawing for the 104th annual IHSAA boys basketball state tournament was held on Sunday featuring all three Adams County schools learning their post-season fate.
The Bellmont Braves (5-13) will travel to the Norwell-hosted 3A sectional #23, while South Adams and Adams Central are on a collision course for the Stardome in Berne for class 2A's sectional #36.
Robert J. Solik, 81, of Decatur, died Saturday at his residence. Arrangements are pending at Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home.
Sherry Winget, 29, of Decatur, died Saturday at 5:58 a.m. at her residence. Arrangements are pending at Downing and Glancy Funeral Home.
A Ball State University film crew has selected Bellmont Middle School as the site of at least one segment of their independent film “The Blue,” and approximately two dozen BMS students will be used as extras in the project.
A four-man team representing the film crew visited BMS earlier this month, prompted by Ball State student and Bellmont High School graduate Andrew Bultemeier.
The third annual Adams County CrimeStoppers fundraiser basketball game will be held at 7 p.m. today at Bellmont High School.
The CrimeStoppers will take the court against the K-105 Hoopsters.
Admission is $4 per adult, $2 per student, with children under five admitted free. Concessions will be served and the Razz M Jazz dance studio will provide the halftime entertainment. A gift basket will also be raffled off during the game.
The Adams County Parks and Rec department held its annual Mother-Son Dance on Saturday. The event was celebrated with a disco 70’s theme.

Alan Stanley Baumgartner, 75, Geneva, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, in Indianapolis.
He was born in Adams County June 17, 1939, to Stanley Baumgartner, who passed away in 1983 and Gretchen (Stucky) Baumgartner, who passed away in 2009.
Irene M. Grove, 90, Decatur, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at her residence.
She was born May 5, 1923, in Decatur to the late Jacob C. and Frances V. (Miller) Heimann.
She married Gerald E. Grove Aug. 24, 1946; he died Jan. 10, 2000.
Irene was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and the Women of St. Mary’s. She was a lifelong homemaker.
