MARION—Bellmont's Alexis Harvey finished in the medal round of the 55 meter dash Saturday at the Hoosier State Relays held at Indiana Wesleyan University's Troyer Fieldhouse to be the only participant from Adams County to score.
Harvey posted a 7.51 speed in the finals for seventh place (the top eight advance to the final round) out of 29 runners who had qualified for the indoor state finals event.
Allison M. Curtis, 23, of Geneva, died Friday in Adams Memorial Hospital.
She was the daughter of Thurman Curtis of Wells County and Ann (Robert) Bergman, of Geneva.
Among survivors are her mother and stepfather, Ann and Robert Bergman of Geneva; father Thurman Curtis of Wells County; grandfather Tom Hough of Geneva; grandmother Joyce Hough of Geneva; and sisters Kati Curtis of Geneva, Monica Curtis of Berne, and Shyler Bergman of Berne.
Herman W. Hammond, 87, a lifelong resident of Decatur, died at 5:56 p.m. Thursday in Adams Memorial Hospital.
Herman was very active in the Decatur Church of God, serving in various positions. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 43 of Adams County.
Herman worked with his brothers in Hammond Produce for many years and was the Washington Township Assessor for 12 years.
Jolene Joy Heyerly, 62, a longtime resident of Decatur, met her heavenly Father at 11:40 p.m. Thursday at her residence.
She was born in Wells County to Bernarr (Red) and Mary Meyer Biddle, both deceased. She married David A. Heyerly on June 16, 1968, in the Assembly of God Church, Fort Wayne.
Helen J. Meyer, 83, of Decatur, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Lutheran Life Villages in FortWayne.
Helen was born on January 23, 1929, in Adams County to the late Florian and Bertha (Ulman) Geimer.
On May 13, 1950, she married Robert E. Meyer.
Daniel Alan Shoaf, 59, of Decatur, passed away at 6:50 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2012, in the Lutheran Hospital of Indiana located in Fort Wayne, after suffering a stroke Sunday at his residence.
Dan was born on Sunday, June 29, 1952, in Decatur, the son of the late Earl and Harriet (Voglewede-Gilson) Shoaf.
He married Danene K. Thieme on October 27, 1974, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Decatur; she survives.
The long-awaited grant of nearly $2.3 million to finally bring new sanitary sewers to Pleasant Mills, Roe Acres, Monmouth, Bobo, and Arcadia Village has finally been received by the Regional Sewer District (RSD), according to Berry Scherer of the RSD and Ben Adams of Commonwealth Engineering.
Adams and Scherer told Adams County Commissioners this week that the total project cost is $4.51 million, leaving approximately $2.481 million needed to finish the project.
