    Adams County Crimestoppers is is asking for the public’s assistance in locating Julian DeAngelo Hart, 27, who faces several charges here and in Allen County.
    According to a news release, on December 7, 2011, Hart allegedly entered Innovative Concepts in Decatur and attempted to purchase merchandise using a fraudulent check.  As police were responding to the scene, Hart fled and led police on a high-speed vehicle pursuit through Decatur, the Crime Stoppers report said.

Nature Swag: Wildlife rules Fridays at AC

    Walking the halls of Adams Central School on any given Friday may seem to be a bit of a zoo. More so than usual because every Friday 17 boys (and counting) can be seen sporting their wildlife shirts.
    These vibrant tops are printed front-to-back with images of eagles, wolves, or bears, the animals that have inspired the group to refer to themselves as "Nature Swag" whenever they wear the shirts.

Jets seek to even score on ACAC mat

    Adams Central started the ACAC campaign with a narrow loss to Leo, but the 1A state champion Jets can get a share of the loop crown by taking care of business at Saturday's tourney at South Adams.
    The Jets have four top seeds, two seconds and 12 overall to the three firsts, three seconds and 10 overall of Leo. South Adams, also a contender, has three top seeds and three seconds with nine overall seeds.
    The Jets are defending champs, having won both the dual meet season and tourney a year ago.

Anna M. Anspaugh

    Anna M. Anspaugh, 80, Decatur, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at her residence.
    She was born in Adams County on April 10, 1932, to the late Ernest C. and Mary L. (Glendening) Anspaugh.
    Anna attended Decatur Light House Assembly of God Church and was a homemaker.
    Among survivors is a relative, Helen M. Sexton of Celina, Ohio.

Rella M. Baker

January 16, 2013

    Rella M. Baker, 87, of Tipp City and New Carlisle, Ohio, formerly of Wells County, passed away Monday, January 14, 2013.
    She was born on August 29, 1925, in Sullivan, Ohio, to the late Marvin E. and Violet E. (Baker) Bennett.
    Rella worked as a homemaker. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in New Carlisle, Fort Wayne St. Therese Catholic Church, VFW 1421 Auxiliary and sponsored Jr. Girls Auxiliary of the VFW for a number of years.

Donald W. Biester

    Rev. Donald Walter Biester, 77, Crown Point, Ind., passed away on Friday, January 4, 2013.
    Donald graduated from Trinity Lutheran School in May 1949. He attended Crown Point High School for one year before transferring to Concordia Lutheran High School in Fort Wayne, where he graduated in 1953.    He entered Concordia College in Fort Wayne and received his Associate of Arts in 1955. He entered Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Mo., where he received his Bachelor of Arts in 1957.

Donna K. Knoblauch

    Donna Kay Knoblauch, 66, of Decatur, passed away at 4:15 p.m. at her daughter's residence in Fort Wayne, following an extended battle with cancer.
    She was born in Fort Wayne on Saturday, September 28, 1946, to the late Donald and Geraldine (Welker) Brudi.
    Donna formerly attended Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne.
    She was a Registered Nurse, employed most recently by Adams Memorial Hospital and prior to that she was employed at Parkview Hospital.

Violet L. Smith

    Violet “Vi” Lucille Arnold Smith, 94, Decatur, died Thursday, January 10, 2013, at Woodcrest Nursing Center.
    Vi was born in Adams County on May 21, 1918, to the late Earl and Gladys (Kline) Arnold.
    On June 15, 1941, she married David R. Smith in Kentland, Ind.; he died in 2006.

Virginia A. Swygart

    Virginia A. Swygart, 89, of Decatur, passed away at 11:10 a.m. on Monday, January 14, 2013, at Woodcrest Nursing Center.
    Virginia was born in Dixon, Ind., on Thursday, September 20, 1923, to the late Charles and Samantha (Murchland) Waterman.
    She married Robert L. Swygart Sr. on March 21, 1942, in Fort Wayne; he passed away on May 23, 1985.
    She was a homemaker, as well as the owner and operator of High Street Bar in Montpelier for 33 years.
