Columbia City scored more points from beyond the three-point line than the Braves did in the entire game in a blow out at the Teepee Friday night, 81-41 in favor of the Eagles.
It was a glimpse of just how talented the Northeast Hoosier Conference really is for Bellmont as Columbia City earned their first conference win and move to 12-1 on the season, while the Braves fall to 3-7 on the year including an 0-2 mark in the NHC.
Ruth Elaine Brown died on January 3, 2013, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Geneva, the only daughter of Theodore and Adah (Felty) Meyer.
Ruth married Willis Brown in 1957.
They raised their family in Geneva and only left home late in life to join their sons in S.C. The Browns attended Cornerstone Baptist Church in Portland and Dutch Fork Baptist Church in Columbia, S.C.
William James Gibson, 80, died on December 14, 2012, in Sierra Vista, Ariz.
He was born in Hoagland on August 16, 1932.
Bill was a retired U.S. Army Veteran, who distinguished himself in the Korean War and through two tours in Vietman. He holds two Silver Stars and a Bronze Star for heroism.
The top leadership of the Adams Health Network (AHN) took an abrupt change Thursday night at a special meeting of the AHN trustees when members voted unanimously to accept the resignation of president and chief executive officer Tom Nordwick.
Nordwick, who has served in that capacity since July of 2011 after succeeding long-time CEO Marvin L. Baird, submitted a letter of resignation to the board.
Steve Hindenlang, 51, of Decatur, died on Wednesday, January 2, in the Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home.
Among survivors are his parents, Gene and Judy Hindenlang; two sons, Joshua Hindenlang and John (Jazmen) Hindenlang; and daughter, Kayla (Rick) Meyer, all of Decatur.
Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m.
Burial will follow in the Ray Cemetery.
With the arrival of the new year, local governments have begun the process of making appointments for 2013.
The Monroe Town Council began Thursday evening's meeting by once again appointing Al Lehman as its president, Arlene Workinger as town clerk-treasurer, Jeremy Brown of Burry, Herman, Miller & Brown as the town attorney, Dio Hernandez as marshall, and Kevin McIntosh as deputy town marshal.
Decatur City Council and the city administration had an outstanding former college football player in its midst on Wednesday, but it wasn't until later that, upon checking, it was discovered just how good the visitor was during his career.
Ross Pospisil, 25, a friend of Councilman Cam Collier, sat in on the meeting as an interested observer. He was introduced by Collier to various city officials on hand for the meeting.
FORT WAYNE — Bellmont lost three of the first four matches, including the first setback of the season for third-rated 182-pounder Brad Busse, then ran the table on the host Homestead Spartans, winning 10 straight Thursday night to secure a 59-13 NHC rout.
The Braves closed out the loop season at 5-2, while Homestead, led by first year coach Justin Wight, slipped to 2-5 in the league and 5-10 overall.
