    Lorraine J. McKean, 91, Berne, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, at Swiss Village.    
    Among survivors are two sons, Richard “Dick” (Janet) McKean of Berne; and William “Bill” (Linda) McKean of Berne; two daughters, Carol (James) Buckingham of Geneva; and Barb (Gregg) Sprunger of Berne; sister, Elmira Wulliman of Berne; 10 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

    Maxine T. Jauregui, 79, Decatur, died on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014. Maxine was born in Littleton, Maine on Nov. 17, 1934,  to the late Elbridge and Hazel (Wiley) Elliott. On September 15, 1954, she married Joseph R. Jauregui.
    Maxine was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and the Women of St. Mary’s. She was also a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

Rosella Mae Rekeweg

    Rosella Mae Rekeweg, 83, Decatur, passed away at 1:48 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, in Adams Woodcrest, where she had been a resident since September.
    Rosella was born in Decatur Friday, Oct. 31, 1930, to the late Reinhard and Wilma (Wefel) Werling. She married her husband of 63 years, Edgar William Rekeweg, Oct. 6, 1951, in St. Paul Lutheran Church-Preble; he survives in Decatur.

Squaws win 10th straight title

    MISSISSINEWA--The scalding hot hand of senior Janaya Wilder led Bellmont to a sweep of No. 9 Mississinewa in the semi-finals, and a more balanced effort was on display Saturday afternoon as the No. 7 Squaws dispatched Heritage in three to claim a 10th straight IHSAA 3A Sectional volleyball championship for the school.

    The South Adams school board met recently for a work session and discussed mutual school board and superintendant goals. Superintendent Scott Litwiller provided a list of eight primary areas he felt might be the most important items for the board to consider in offering him guidance in prioritizing those  objectives for the future.

Two seek election to AC District 2 seat

    Two candidates are seeking election to the District 2 seat on the Adams Central Schools’ board of education in the Nov. 4 general election.
    Steve Maller, who currently holds the board seat, resides at 739S 700W-1, Bluffton. He was appointed in 2000 to complete an unexpired term and has since been elected three consecutive terms.
    Brett Eisberg resides at 4858W S.R. 124, Decatur. He is making his first attempt at elected office.

Warm weather helps draw large crowd for Safety Park Trick-or-Treat

     Safety Park in Decatur was the place to be early Saturday afternoon as hundreds of area youngters and their parents lined up for an afternoon of safe Trick-or-Treating. Local merchants and fraternal and service organizations manned stations to pass out treats for the costumed characters.

    Christopher Douglas Copeland, 44, of Geneva, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
    Among survivors are his wife, Amanda (Vaughn) Copeland of Geneva; mother, Lola Irene Smith of Livingston, Tenn.; two sons, Mitchell Douglas and Christopher Jacob Copeland, both of Geneva; daughter, Evana Stella Copeland of Geneva; two brothers, Jeff Copeland and Jamie (Marsha) Vaughn, both of Livingston; and sister, Melanie Breeding of Livingston.
