He was married to Evelyn Bollinger-Forehand, former Decatur resident; she survives in Sun City.
David L. Paddock, 55, Decatur, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014, in Houston, Texas.
He was born March 29, 1959, to the late Louis (Jim) Paddock and Joyce (Drake) Paddock.
David was a long time truck driver. A few of his employers include Werner Enterprises, Martins in Fort Wayne and Raun in Decatur. He had his own business, Dave Pilot Car, where he escorted long and wide loads.
His children and his long-time companion, Leslie, were all at his side when he passed.
Berne city employees and elected officials will receive a pay raise following a lengthy discussion and split vote during Monday evening’s meeting of Berne City Council.
Mayor Bill McKean proposed a 1 percent plus $500 raise for all city employees during the June 22 council meeting, and a $250 increase for elected officials. While council easily and unanimously passed the pay bump for all city employees, the decision regarding the raise for elected officials garnered much more attention ... and debate.
Four Decatur teenagers reported missing since Saturday were apprehended late Monday night in Cook County, Ga. One of the teens is facing unspecified felony charges and all four are currently in custody at the Cook County jail.
Will Fisher, 5, and his grandmother, Kate Rash, took advantage of a perfect summer Monday afternoon and rode their bikes along the River Greenway Trail in Decatur. The trail, which was busy Monday, could see less use later this week as temperatures are forecast to drop to unseasonal levels.
Patricia S. Boltz, 84, Fort Wayne, passed away Friday, July 11, 2014, at the Parkview Regional Medical Center.
She was born Saturday, Feb. 15, 1930, in Fort Wayne, the daughter of the late John W. and Luella (Branning) Sauer.
She married Dean E. Boltz Oct. 19, 1950, in the Wayne Street Methodist Church in Fort Wayne; he survives.
John Mann and Dixie Mann, joined by Judy and Doug Milligan, were among the diners Saturday evening on the covered bridge near Ceylon. The second-ever “Dinner on the Bridge” was a fundraiser for restoration efforts at the historic structure which spans the Wabash River.
Members of the Geneva Town Council heard a presentation surrounding the specifics of the process involved in establishing a tax increment finance district at their regular monthly meeting last week.
TIF districts are currently a popular tool used by local governmental entities to capture assessed value and new property taxes from new development in a designated area.
The Adams County Council approved the transfer of $25,000 in additional appropriations into the supplemental public defender fund to cover expenses incurred by hiring outside attorneys to handle the caseload of indigent defendants of appointed Pauper Counsel Joe Johnson III.
Johnson has been suspended from the position by the Adams County Public Defender Board following the filing of criminal charges against him by a special prosecutor.
