A familiar name with a different face has been added to the medical staff of the Adams Memorial Hospital, according to AMH officials.
Dr. Aaron C. Coats, brother of AMH orthopaedic surgeon Dr. David Coats, has joined the surgical staff at Adams Memorial Hospital and will specialize in orthopaedics and sports medicine.
Adams County Historian and Librarian Louise Wolpert, representing the group Friends of the Carnegie Library, appeared before the Adams County Commissioners Monday afternoon to inform the county officials of an upcoming public meeting to save the former Carnegie Library building and invite them to attend. And she came with reinforcements.
Friends members Betsy Dickerson and Janet Torson also appeared before the commissioners.
Work began this week on the demolition of the former General Electric plant in Decatur. Crews from Brandonberg Excavating are performing the work.
KINGSLAND— It took four sets for Adams Central to find their groove on a sluggish, Monday night volleyball contest, but in set five the Lady Jets dominated Norwell on the road to earn a big non-conference victory 25-20, 25-22, 24-26, 24-26, 15-4.
"It was definitely a Monday game," said AC coach Ashley Beard. "We came out flat and did not play very well tonight."

Andrew Luck and Reggie Wayne were back in sync for Indianapolis on Sunday. The 25-year-old quarterback threw for 393 yards and four touchdowns, while the 35-year-old Colts receiver had seven catches for a season-best 119 yards and his first TD of the season, leading the Colts to a 41-17 rout over Tennessee.
Henrietta H. Augsburger, 92, Berne, died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014 at Swiss Village.
Among survivors are three daughters, Anita (Thomas) Wardell of Suffield, Conn.; Susan Augsburger of Fort Wayne; and Karen (Michael)Campbell of Mackinaw, Mich.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday at the Swiss Village Chapel, with Pastor Mike Wertenberger officiating. Burial is at a later date.
Arrangements were made by Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home.
Alice M. Baumgartner, 96, Berne, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, at Swiss Village. She was born on May 20, 1918, in Adams County to the late Joseph and Viola (Beitler) Baumgartner. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Otto Smith Jr., and her second husband, Merle E. Burkhead.
Alice was a member of Pleasant Dale Church of the Brethren and Pleasant Dale Women’s Fellowship. She was a waitress and homemaker.
John J. “Junior” Bollenbacher, 89, Willshire, Ohio, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, at The Laurels of Shane Hill in Rockford, Ohio. John was born in Mercer County Feb. 7, 1925, to the late Theodore F. and Minnie L. (Brehm) Bollenbacher.
Estella Canales, 71, Decatur, passed away at noon Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, at Adams Memorial Hospital. She was born in Crystal City, Texas, Monday, Dec. 14, 1942, to the late Margarito “Margee” and Paula (Espinoza) Canales.
Stephan “Steve” Tennis Crum, 68, Bluffton, died at 6:33 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at his home. Steve was born Aug. 19, 1946, to the late Tennis Jackson and Mabel Louise (Chaffin) Crum in Cookeville, Tenn. He was raised by his maternal grandparents, Hiram and Sarah Chaffin.
