BLUFFTON, Ind. (AP) — A northeastern Indiana couple charged in connection with the death of a 3-year-old boy whose burned body was found dumped in a wooded area are now facing drug charges.
Wells County prosecutors filed one count each of dealing methamphetamine Tuesday against the boy’s 21-year-old mother, Breanna J. Arnold, and her boyfriend, 30-year-old Zachary Barnes.
Mild temperatures that have lingered in the area over the past few days have been a welcome relief for residents and animals alike, such as these chickens belonging to Mark and Barb Reinking of rural Decatur.
LATEST UPDATE: All three public school systems, St. Joseph Catholic and Wyneken Lutheran Memorial schools are now closed for the day, as are Jay County Schools and Northern Wells. Bluffton-Harrison and Southern Wells are operating on a 2 hour delay, as are Parkway Local Schools in neighboring Ohio. We will update this information as needed.

An unusually warm day in November started off like any other for the family of Northwest fourth grader Hailey Smith. However, before the day was done, Hailey would become a heroine.
After going through the “Survive Alive” program at Safety Village in Decatur, Hailey went home that afternoon and put her new-found knowledge to work. Hailey and her family developed an exit plan for their home in the event of a fire, then practiced the escape route and meeting at a safe place.
Adams County Data Processing Director Landon Patterson showed off the county’s unmanned aerial vehicle — or UAV — during a demonstration Thursday afternoon in the vacant field just north of Riverside Center in Decatur.
Members of the media who had gathered for the event watched as Patterson programmed the software for the afternoon flight, then saw the UAV soar over the area around Riverside for several minutes.
Adams County’s unemployment rate remained at 5.0 percent for the second consecutive month during December, according to figures released Wednesday by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
The rate for the final month of 2014 was .4 percent lower than one year earlier. Local jobless figures bottomed out during 2014 at 4.3 percent in September after hitting a yearly high of 6.0 percent in February. Jobless rates in the county peaked at 15.2 percent in July of 2010.

Crestview Local, Van Wert City Schools and Vantage Career Center in neighboring Ohio are also operating on a 2 hour delay. We will update this information as needed.
