On a clear, crisp and cold November Sunday afternoon, with stiff winds snapping flags to attention, Adams County paid special tribute to its servicemen who gave their lives in the Vietnam conflict with the dedication of a granite memorial on the front lawn of the courthouse. The ceremony, appropriately, was held the day before the official Veteran's Day holiday.
Jan Smith, Commander of American Legion Post 43, served as the master of ceremonies during Sunday’s event, attended by more than 100 area residents, including several veterans of the Vietnam conflict.
With some counties seeing an increase in lawsuits filed by voters claiming county districts are unfairly represented, the Adams County Board of Elections opted to take a proactive approach and attempt to redistribute the population and thus better balance the districts for county council seats.
The county is currently divided into four districts, represented by councilmen Stan Stoppenhagen (District 1), Duwayne Herman (District 2), Eric Orr (District 3) and Phil Wulliman (District 4).

WABASH— South Adams' senior Klayton Hinshaw summed it up nicely while hoisting the sectional trophy and addressing the team after the game.
"17 years, baby!"
The number referenced by one of the Stars' top lineman was of course how long it has been since SA has won a sectional title. On Friday night South Adams defeated Southwood in an overtime thriller, 40-39, giving the Berne boys their fifth title in school history and first since 1996.
November 1 marked the end of the 2009 federal stimulus package which provided additional income for participants of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program’s food stamp program. The expiration of stimulus funding has resulted in a reduction in benefits received by SNAP recipients of 7 percent, or $10 per month per person, according to northeast Indiana Family and Social Services Deputy Director of Communications Marnie Lemons.
