Memorial Day celebration

    Join area residents Monday morning for the annual Memorial Day celebration. After visits by the American Legion color guard to St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery and Decatur Cemetery at 9 a.m., the service will take place at the Peace Monument on the courthouse square shortly after 10 a.m.

Memorial Day services announced

    Memorial Day services in Decatur will begin at 9 a.m. Monday, with military honors at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, followed by a similar ceremony at Decatur Ceremony. At 10 a.m.  a brief service to honor fallen U.S. Navy officers will be held on the Wendell Macklin Bridge. A celebration at the Peace Monument on the courthouse square will conclude the festivities.
