Soccer Squaws ride on Kennedy’s hat trick, blow out Woodlan 7-0

    Belmont Squaws Soccer team played Woodland in a down pour Tuesday night at Kreager Field, winning 7-0. 
    The field was flooded making it difficult to score in the beginning of the game for either team, but Bellmont continued their patient play and possession soccer as the midfielders Kylie Beery, Amberly Guiterezz, and Alyssa Strickler continued to pass the ball well.

    MONROE—South Adams cross country fortunes went 4-0 Tuesday night as they knocked off ACAC foes Adams Central and Garrett in both boys and girls races.

Bellmont boys have great race at New Haven Invite

    NEW HAVEN— The Braves took eighth out of 17 teams in the mid-sized school division of the New Haven Invitational at the Plex on Saturday.
    There were many personal bests from the event's runners from Bellmont. Fourteen Braves posted season bests or career bests as the varsity and JV ran in the same race.

Squaws run the table on Lady Tigers

    BLUFFTON— After the exciting battle over the weekend against Muncie Burris at the Warsaw Invitational, traveling to Bluffton to play a struggling Lady Tigers squad seemed like a breeze to the surging Squaws from Bellmont as they would go on to defeat Bluffton in three games, 25-2, 25-6, 25-12.

AC netters defeat Norwell

    MONROE—Alyssa Keller recorded a double-double with 13 digs and 22 assists Monday night to help pace the Adams Central varsity volleyball team to a three-game sweep of Norwell.
    The Jets won the even 25-14, 25-22, 25-18 to improve to 9-7 on the season. AC also won the reserve match by a 25-18, 25-16 count and now own a strong 16-5 slate for play this year.

Squaw’s Invitational hopes fall short

    WARSAW— It was a smooth waltz to the finals for the Squaw volleyballers, but the action heated up instantly when Muncie Burris took the court and defeated Bellmont by the slimmest of margins in two games, 23-25, 23-25 to take the title at the annual Warsaw Invitational.
    Ranked #1 in 2A, Muncie Burris came into the tourney, along with Bellmont, as one of the favorites and it came down to the two powerhouses in the final match.

Jets dominate ACAC tourney

    MONROE—For the first time in the history of the ACAC tennis tournament, a team (Adams Central) advanced all seven players to the third round and the Jets finished with a claim to the doubles championship and runner-up in singles play.
    Adams Central repeated at the top of the doubles competition with Derek Roe and Keaton Fiechter beating South Adams' Scott Hoeppner and Derek Schwartz in the finals 7-6 (4), 6-4. Roe was a member of the winning AC team last year as well.

Squaws take down Carroll in critical conference battle

    NHC volleyball powers Bellmont and Carroll collided on the court at the Teepee Thursday night in a match that, despite the fact it was only the third of seven conference matches of the year for the two teams, was one that will more than likely determine the championship of the NHC.
    That title, which has been owned by Bellmont for nearly a decade, will once again  likely reside with the Squaws as they polished off the Chargers in three straight games 25-21, 25-18, 25-22 in a match that was anything but easy for either team.

Lady Jets handle Blackhawk Christian, climb over .500

    Monroe— The Lady Jets of Adams Central found themselves back over .500 for the season with an impressive win against the Blackhawk Christian Braves last night in a non-conference volleyball match-up.
    The Lady Jets, now 8-7 (3-2 in conference), made a clean sweep of things in front of their home crowd at the Hanger by defeating the visiting Braves in three games, 25-17, 25-23, 25-19.

Macke welcomed into Golf Hall of Fame

    Mike Macke was recently elected to the Decatur Men’s Golf Association Hall of Fame, just a few days after becoming eligible, while still an active and strong player.
    In adding Macke to its membership, the men’s golf association said it recognizes his leadership of Decatur Golf, his work in developing and encouraging young talent, his high quality of play and competitive spirit, and is to be commended for helping to grow and enhance competitive golf in Decatur.
