ON TO THE IRISH PITCH— Former Bellmont and University of Saint Francis standout, Sam Meyer, is making the trip to Dublin, Ireland in January to attend a high-profile soccer combine that will feature some of the best and brightest upcoming talent in the sport. Sam’s goal is to become a professional soccer player and the 10-day showcase tour will have scouts from several different leagues searching for impact players to sign to their squads. Go Sambo! Week seven of Pigskin Picks featured all three brackets that missed just one game enter the money including Richard St. John who nailed the tie-break score of 54* points, Susan Anweiler who took second guessing 52, and Craig Krull who climbs the overall standings once again with a 41. MARION—Both Bellmont cross country teams and the South Adams boys' squad survived Saturday to run another day with sterling performances at the IHSAA regional meet at Indiana Wesleyan University with the Braves and Starfires charging their way to a fourth and fifth place position while the Squaws were fifth.
The top five teams (10 teams in each meet) automatically advance to this coming Saturday's IHSAA semi-state meet to be held at the Plex in Fort Wayne.

KENDALLVILLE — Homestead ended the Bellmont Squaws’ soccer season on Wednesday night in the opening round of regional play at East Noble, 1-0.
Repeating as sectional champions for the first time in school history, the defensive-minded Squaws’ game plan was to shut down the Spartans’ offensive attack.
BERNE— Letting a 2-1 set lead slip away, the South Adams Starfires fell to the visiting Bishop Luers' Knights in five, 25-19, 22-25, 22-25, 25-20, 15-8.
