When Trent McCormick brings his No. 5 rated Yorktown Tigers to Adams Central Wednesday, or on any weather-related make-up date, there's one thing he can be sure of: there will be 14 bodies and a host of coaches on the other side of the mat who will do everything humanly possible to send them back to Yorktown disappointed and defeated.

Bellmont earned four championships and advanced 12, rolling up 266.5 points to hold of a solid effort by South Adams Saturday at Jay, winning a 21st straight sectional wrestling crown and a spot across from Yorktown in Wednesday's Team Regional.
"We had to have every thing go perfect to have a shot, and everything went pretty well and we still fell quite a bit short," stated South Adams Coach Eric Myers, whose Starfires stacked up 228.5 points.
Basketball pairings for the 36th annual high school girls state basketball tournament were drawn Sunday evening by officials at the Indiana High School Athletic Association with both Adams Central and Bellmont drawing into the bye game of their respective tournament.

"We need a little more attitude on the mat," stated Bellmont coach Brent Faurote on his evaluation of his team from last week's narrow loss to Carroll at the NHC Tournament.
"We didn't have that extra toughness. It was attitude more than anything. In some of the key matches we had kids that looked like they were going through the motions instead of wrestling with pride and guts."
Senior Cole Vanhorn will make his debut for Yorktown High School at 140 pounds Saturday in the Delta Sectional, it was noted today by Delta Athletic Director Chris Conley.
Vanhorn transfered at semester from Franklin High School, where he was 7-3 for the season. Two years ago, Vanhorn made it to the individual state finals, and last year he was eliminated in the semistate.
"He passed all the IHSAA requirements," stated veteran Yorktown coach Trent McCormick on Vanhorn's status.
