December 14, 2011

MONROE—A comeback rally in the second half fell short for the Adams Central girls basketball team Tuesday night as New Haven survived a quick AC blitz to gain a 46-33 non-conference win at the Hangar.
New Haven had led by 13 midway through the third period at 31-18  before the Jets, now 2-6 on the season, started to chip away at the Bulldog lead. Madison Carroll and Bess Fiechter scored baskets, the latter coming on an offensive rebound of a missed free throw.

Bellmont down Pats after long time off

December 12, 2011

A rock-solid second half by the Bellmont Braves led by a 19-point game performance by Payton Selking found the Braves posting a 43-39 victory over Heritage at the Teepee on Saturday.
Bellmont took just 15 shots in the second half but made 10 of them as they erased a 23-18 lead that Heritage owned at halftime to go up 31-29 at the end of the third period. In that stanza,  Selking danced his way through the Heritage trees for a pair of baskets but perhaps his biggest shot of the  night came just before the horn sounded.

December 6, 2011

Bellmont wrestling fans will get a rare treat tonight when the 9-2 Braves take on the 4-3 New Haven Bulldogs, and I'm not talking about the 1,030 wins that the two veteran coaches will take to the tussle.
No, mat fans will get to see the home debut of Brian Hakes, a new 205-pound senior heavyweight.
A couple of weeks ago, Hakes, already a three-sport standout for two high schools, was just minding his own business at Bellmont High.

ROCKFORD, Ohio––A game that Adams Central coach Aaron McClure called "ugly" because it lacked the offensive flow his team displayed in its first two outings still went AC's way at Parkway on Saturday.
The 57-43 victory that made the Flying Jets 2-1 and left the Panthers 0-2 came as the two sides swapped 10-0 runs in the fourth period and featured more fireworks from Jet star Maverick Baumer.
