Beat the pros final

    With the tournament in the books, here is a list of the top 50 brackets for 2012. Congratulations to the top five who will receive a free large pizza from Pizza Hut (winners designated with an "*"). The tie-breaker was determined by the most points from play-in games and then final score guessed in the championship game.

Beat the Pros Challenge: Final Four

    Kentucky and Kansas will collide for a second time this year. With the National Championship looming tomorrow night, this is a list of the top brackets left in the Beat the Pros contest. There were a number of brackets with 63 points so a total of 57 people round out the list of bracket hopefuls.

    Remember, 10 points are awarded for guessing Monday’s winner correctly so it’s still wide open. For those brackets that can no longer make points, an “F” for final will be listed after their name.

Coaches vs. Cancer Classic

    On Saturday, April 7, Bellmont High School will be hosting the county's first annual Coaches vs. Cancer Classic baseball games.
    The games will include the Braves, Adams Central, and the Starfires of South Adams in a three-game format throughout the day. Each school will wear special t-shirts with their respective school colors and feature a large pink school logo on the front. All three teams will also be wearing pink and white wristbands and pink shoelaces. The t-shirts are designed by Minds Eye Graphics.

               The Beat the Pros bracket challenge is nearing its completion with the Final Four now in place. Saturday, March 31 marks the date for the final two games before the National Championship on Monday, April 2.

                After all eight games in the Sweet 16 the standings have some familiar faces, but it’s still anyone’s race with some new brackets coming forward in the contest. Stay tuned for updates after the Elite 8 this weekend.

Two Braves get academic all-state

    The Indiana Basketball Coaches Association has released its first-team Academic All-State list of 29 boys and 28 girls as well as an honorable mention list including 146 boys and 148 girls around the state of Indiana. Two Bellmont Braves were selected to the honorable mention list for the award; seniors Payton Selking and Logan Smith.

Bellmont wins a pair at Luers

    FORT WAYNE–Bellmont picked up a pair of early season track wins over Bishop Luers Tuesday night at Luers Field with the Braves notching an 86-46 triumph over the Knights while the Squaws dealt their foes a 92-33 setback.
    The win for the Braves was impressive considering the fact they went winless last season.
