BERNE— Sydney Wills scored 24 points on a scorching 9-12 effort from the floor including six three-pointers to pace the South Adams Lady Starfires to a lopsided 56-35 victory over the Churubusco Eagles on Thursday night.
The Stars produced a 19-4 advantage in the first quarter against the Eagles who came into the contest riding a four-game winning streak but the loss put them to 11-9 on the season.

BERNE— A 59-52 wire to wire victory for Bellmont over South Adams on Tuesday night seemed to be a lot closer than the end result.
The Braves improved to 5-8 with the win, while the Stars dropped to 4-8 on the season.
"I was proud of the way we started the game, the way we continued to push and the way we finished the game," noted Bellmont coach John Baker. "I would have liked to have hit some more of our free throws to extend the lead but I can't fault the effort tonight."

KINGSLAND — Sophomore Bryce Baumgartner won his second NHC crown and senior Brett Baker his first-ever high school tourney title as the pair paced Bellmont to second place to Carroll in the final Northeast Hoosier Conference tourney Saturday at Norwell.
The Chargers, with five champs and nine to the finals, tallied 247 points to the 212 of Bellmont. It was the third straight crown for the Chargers, and fourth in five years. Bellmont owns 20 NHC crowns and 39 conference mat championships overall.

Carl Risch, the 20-year veteran head girls track and field coach at Bellmont High School, has received yet another award as he was recently named the 2014 Indiana coach of the year for that sport by the National Federation of State High School Association (NFHS) Coaches Association.
ALBERSON SIGNS— After a stellar senior season recovering from an injury her junior campaign, Bellmont’s Sadie Alberson has signed a Letter of Intent to play volleyball at the Uinversity of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne.
