CHURUBUSCO— The Eagles were no match for Adams Central tennis as the Jets completed a 5-0 sweep of Churubusco on Tuesday night.
The closest match of the night belonged to one doubles where Ben Kahlert and Zach Green went to three sets against Landon and Luke Lillmars 7-5, 6-7 (5-7), 6-2. Kahlert's normal doubles partner, Jared Lehman, sat out Tuesday night.
Bellmont boys soccer recovered from their first two losses of the season against Homestead and Carroll to blank Jay County in an 8-0 rout and New Haven in a 5-1 decision.
The Braves shook off a sluggish start playing defense most of the first half behind the stellar goal play of Caleb Schell who kept the Patriots off the scoreboard. Adam Weaver found the back of the net on a breakaway goal midway through the first half beginning a barrage of Bellmont goals.
Bellmont volleyball hosts Bishop Luers tonight at the Teepee in a rare, non-conference Monday match. The JV will kick off the action with their match at 6 p.m. with the varsity contest to follow about half an hour after its conclusion.

BLUFFTON— Bellmont's girls golf team won their first sectional title in school history on Saturday morning defeating the field of 12 at Timber Ridge Golf Course in Bluffton by one stroke at 359 amidst windy conditions.
New Haven comes to town tonight in the first NHC volleyball match of the season for the Squaws. The JV is slated to begin at 6 p.m. with the varsity to begin approximately 20 minutes after.
The three county golf teams met up at Cross Creek on Wednesday night playing the front nine on a sunny but cool afternoon tri-meet.
The Squaws came away with the narrow victory over South Adams ending with a team score of 171 strokes, nine ahead of the Starfires with a 180 and Adams Central finished a distant third with 226.
Tonight the Squaws host non-conference foes Northrop at the Teepee starting with the JV game at 6 p.m. The DDD webcast will begin at approximately 7:05 p.m. or immediately after the JV game.

WATERLOO— Bellmont suffered a tight defeat against NHC foe DeKalb Tuesday night on the road losing 3-2 despite winning both doubles matches.
Below are the week two results of the Pigskin Picks Challenge featuring Mike McGill as the winner missing only two games and nailing the tie-breaker score of 36 right on the money. Taking second place was Herbert Smitley with two wrong and a guess of 53, while Sharon Grim was the only community player to miss just three wrong and earned the third place prize for the DDD Bucks. Several 'celebrity' pickers were near the top of the standings this week as well!
