Tonight's make-up contest between the Blackford Bruins and the Bellmont Braves is set to begin at 5 p.m. but may be later due to the lateness of some schools in the extended school day period. The DDD pre-game is slated to begin at approximately 4:45 p.m. (gametime pending).

Tonight's county-rivalry contest on the softball field between the Lady Jets and Squaws will begin roughly at 5 p.m. The DDD pre-game show will tentatively start at 4:45 p.m. and fans are encouraged to follow the link below to the game cast website. BERNE— South Adams High School had their first opportunity to host the Coaches Versus Cancer Classic in its third year of existence on Saturday in what turned out to be one of the nicest days of the early spring season albeit blustery.
The Starfires did not fare as well as the weather, however, going 0-2 against Adams Central and Bellmont in the opening and closing games. Bellmont was a winner over the Jets in the middle game. All proceeds from the concession stands as well as entrance fees were donated for cancer research.
Tonight the Squaws host the Garrett Railroaders for their home opener on the softball diamond (weather permitting). The game is slated for a 5 p.m. start tonight with the DDD pre-game show set for a 4:45 start.

PORTLAND—Bellmont and Adams Central ventured south to Jay County Thursday evening for a triangular girls and boys track meet with the Patriots with Jay County nudging out the Squaws by a mere two points on the girls side while Adams Central claimed victory in the boys meet by a 9 1/3 point edge.
Other teammates in the 4 x 4 joining Gunsett were Ally Norby, Grace Fisher, and Alyssa Strickler.
BLUFFTON— The Braves took advantage of six Tiger errors in the third inning to break open the game scoring six runs eventually ending with a victory via mercy rule, 13-2 after just five frames.
Bellmont (2-0) got three quality innings from junior Parker Zeser on the hill as he struck out six of the 13 batters he faced lining himself up for the win. Sawyer Boyd and Brett Baker each pitched one scoreless inning of relief as the Braves needed only five innings to top the Tigers thanks to the hot bats.
Tonight the Braves travel to Bluffton to face the Tigers in a varsity baseball contest. The game is slated to begin at approximately 5 p.m. The pre-game broadcast will begin at 4:45 p.m.

FORT WAYNE— The Bellmont Braves opened their 2014 campaign with a 4-2 victory over the South Side Archers at Elmhurst Field on Tuesday night using a three-run sixth inning to boost the win.
Braves' hurler Mason Shinabery had nine strikeouts in the win going five quality innings, while reliever Ryan Okoniewski aided the rest of the way on the hill for the Braves with the two-inning save.
