MONROEVILLE — Both the Lady Jets and the Lady Starfires once again found a way to make it interesting in the opening match of the ACAC volleyball tournament Tuesday night, but ultimately put away the Bluffton Lady Tigers and Southern Wells Lady Raiders each in two sets in their respective matches.
Heritage hosted the event and would later play the Woodlan Lady Warriors after the AC-Bluffton match-up. In the Jets' contest, AC managed to hold on to the first set with a gritty 25-21 score despite losing at one point 13-18.

FORT WAYNE—Despite the wet, sloppy grounds, a pair of Bellmont girls set new personal season best times in the Northeast Hoosier Conference cross country meet held at the Plex while only three seconds separated Evan Boucher from a top 10 individual finish in the boys race.
Boucher's performance listed him on the NHC all-conference second team but more importantly made him only the second BHS male runner to make the all-conference team all four years of his high school career (Ryan Vendrely the other from 2003-2006).
MONROE — The Lady Starfires of South Adams gave the heavily favored Lady Jets of Adams Central a run for their money at the Hangar, but at the end of the night, AC was left standing with a 3-0 sweep of the Stars with the scores 25-20, 25-13, 25-17.
It looked like South Adams was going to come in and steal the first game when they blasted out of the gate on a 10-3 start causing Lady Jets coach Jeremi Schortgen to call an early timeout.
WATERLOO — Bellmont served notice early on the DeKalb Barons there was a reason the last time Bellmont lost a NHC volleyball match came when most of Thursday night's players were back in elementary school.
They're that good.

The field was flooded making it difficult to score in the beginning of the game for either team, but Bellmont continued their patient play and possession soccer as the midfielders Kylie Beery, Amberly Guiterezz, and Alyssa Strickler continued to pass the ball well.
MONROE—South Adams cross country fortunes went 4-0 Tuesday night as they knocked off ACAC foes Adams Central and Garrett in both boys and girls races.
NEW HAVEN— The Braves took eighth out of 17 teams in the mid-sized school division of the New Haven Invitational at the Plex on Saturday.
There were many personal bests from the event's runners from Bellmont. Fourteen Braves posted season bests or career bests as the varsity and JV ran in the same race.
