CAMBRIDGE CITY—The Starfire baseball team made a 140-mile round trip on Saturday playing a pair of games in between to make it worth their while going 2-0 on the day to improve their record to an even 3-3 on the season.
The Stars began their day with a six inning rout of the host school Cambridge City Lincoln Golden Eagles, 10-0 led by the one-hit pitching effort of their senior ace, Alex Augsburger. The hurler had three strikeouts with three walks but allowed just one hit all day to the Golden Eagles facing 20 batters officially.
For the girls, SA won just five of the 15 events but managed to earn enough points for the victory with 62, while Garrett was just behind at 51 points and AC finished third with 43.
The Railroaders were winners of two of the three relays but the Stars won the 3200 Relay behind the strength of Kristen Muselman, Aleesha Goodwin, Lily Shane, and Katelyn Hawbaker who finished with a time of 11:57.6.
The well-oiled Bellmont girls track machine kept humming on all cylinders Tuesday night pounding out decisive victories over Northeast Hoosier Conference foes New Haven and DeKalb.
Bellmont rolled out 85 points compared to 42 for DeKalb and 37 for New Haven.
The top brackets have been tabulated with the final results listed below. Only those brackets in the top 10 have been sorted out of ties for prize distribution purposes. Every other bracket past the top 10 that finished in a tie was not separated but kept as a tie to simplify the grading process.

In the opening two frames it appeared as though Bellmont was the returning state runners-up and Adams Central was the rebuilding squad in Tuesday's inter-county rivalry between the Jets and the Squaws.
Bellmont held a 4-0 advantage taking advantage of four AC miscues in the first two innings but seven runs later, the Lady Jets showed stellar run support and pulled out the 7-4 victory.
