NEW HAVEN—Bellmont put runners on base in every inning on the road against the New Haven Bulldogs on Tuesday night but could not quite get the big time plays to get on the scoreboard and the home team earned a 7-0 victory.
Heading into the bottom of the sixth frame, the Bulldogs held firm to a 2-0 advantage over the Braves during the NHC meeting but five big runs on five hits against starter Matt Chronister broke the game wide open.
The Bellmont softball team trailed 3-0 after just two innings against visiting New Haven on Monday, and didn't have enough oomph to overcome the Lady Bulldogs in a 4-2 loss.
Bellmont got off to a rough start in the first, giving up two runs on two hits. Squaws pitcher Janaya Wilder walked the first New Haven batter, and threw one past the plate.
MONROE—The returning champion Lady Jets hosted this season’s ACAC tournament on Friday and Saturday along with South Adams, Leo, and Bluffton.
With the completion of the regular season ACAC schedule, Leo already earned the team championship with a perfect 3-0 mark, while the Lady Jets took second at 2-1, Bluffton third at 1-2, and the Starfires finishing last at 0-3.
NEW HAVEN—Seven first place finishes, four conference and four school records, four blue ribbons for sprinter Alexis Harvey and three for teammate Holly Hankenson propelled the Bellmont Squaws to 131.5 points in the annual NHC girls track meet at the Patrick D. Monaghan Track and Field facility at New Haven High School Friday night.
Coming off an emotional win against Heritage on Wednesday night, the Braves turned their attention to the visiting Carroll Chargers at home on Thursday but a seven-run sixth inning spelled doom for Bellmont in a 9-1 loss.
Through five innings, Jordan Hilyard was throwing a gem of a baseball game allowing seven hits scattered around holding the Chargers to just two runs and Bellmont trailed by just a run at 2-1.

MONROEVILLE—A few timely hits during a classic pitcher’s duel spelled a victory for Bellmont over their feisty opponent, Heritage, in an NHC/ACAC clash, 3-2.
On the road and struggling for victories amidst their difficult schedule stretch, Bellmont, now 3-8, got an all-star effort from their 6’5” hurler, Matt Chronister, who went the distance going seven innings for the victory with 13 K's.
COLUMBIA CITY—At any other time of the track season, Bellmont coach Carl Risch and his Squaws would have had big circles drawn around Tuesday night's NHC triangular match-up between Carroll, Columbia City, and Bellmont, arguably the three best girls' teams in the conference.
