Squaws smash Luers, 3-0

    The Squaws begin a tough week of volleyball on the right foot knocking off Bishop Luers in a convincing three-game sweep at the Teepee on Monday night 25-12, 25-16, 25-11.
    Bellmont moves to 15-3 on the season, holding their number two rank in 3A volleyball intact with the win. Luers, who are not pushovers by any means, tested Adams Central to a five-set classic a week earlier but were without the services of their senior setter, Tamara Griggs.

Bishop Luers dismisses Lindsay

    FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — Bishop Luers High School has fired longtime football coach Matt Lindsay, who won nine state titles during his 26 years as the Fort Wayne school’s head football coach.

Squaws place 6th at big New Prairie Invite

    NEW CARLISLE—Five lifetime best runs and four season best efforts on one of the toughest cross country courses in northern Indiana propelled the Bellmont girls to a sixth place finish in the mid-school division of the New Prairie High School Invitational Saturday out of 33 teams that participated.

Homestead offense too much for Braves

    FORT WAYNE—The annual "David versus Goliath" match-up of the smallest and largest schools in the NHC concluded as predicted by the experts as Bellmont suffered their second loss of the season and first in conference to the mighty Homestead Spartans (ranked #11 in 5A) 42-7.
    There was a feel of "here we go" in the crowd when Homestead quarterback Matt Skowronek connected with receiver Isaac Griffith for a 68-yard touchdown on the first play from scrimmage.

Bellmont bombards Bulldogs

    New Haven scored 20 points against Bellmont on Thursday night...in the match.
    The Squaws, playing without the services of one of their better strikers, blew the Lady Bulldogs out of the building with a three-set sweep 25-11, 25-1, 25-8.
    No, that's not typo, New Haven managed just one point in game two.

Braves blast Stars, 5-0

    BERNE—Bellmont got back to their winning ways with a decisive 5-0 win against their lowly county rival South Adams on Wednesday night.
    The Starfires are still chugging through a rebuilding season of sorts and the Braves took advantage sealing three of the five wins in in double-goose egg fashion.

Lady Jet netters blast Garrett in sweep

    MONROE—The Lady Jets took care of their home court against the Garrett Railroaders on Tuesday night in an exciting ACAC contest that featured Adams Central sweeping the visitors in three games 25-14, 25-22, 25-20.
    AC, now 3-0 in conference (10-2 overall), went through phases in the match against the Lady Railroaders but the end result was another "W" for coach Ashley Beard.

Jets lose two-day affair with Garrett

    MONROE—Two potential scoring plays, about 16 hours apart, turned out to be the difference between victory and defeat in Adams Central's and Garrett's weather-elongated Homecoming game on Friday night and Saturday afternoon. Garrett came out the winner, 21-12.
    The visiting Railroaders won Day One, 21-0, and AC won Day Two, 12-0, but two missed scores by the Flying Jets were crucial: one on Friday just before the game was postponed due to lightning and the other on Saturday:

Squaws top Muncie Central at New Castle

    NEW CASTLE—This year's Squaws are a different type of challenge for coach Craig Krull, and Saturday's performance at the annual New Castle Invitational seemed to be a good barometer of Bellmont's post-season potential as they split a pair of matches against two of the toughest volleyball programs Indiana has to offer.

Braves win defensive struggle with Norwell

September 8, 2012

    Bellmont took advantage of a pair of breaks, driving for scores after the Norwell miscues to carve out a key 14-6 NHC victory over the Knights Friday night at Bob Worthman Stadium,  improving to 3-1 overall with three tough loop contests looming.
    The game somehow dodged the storm bullets and was over by 9 p.m., seconds before a huge bolt of lightening cut open the skies.
    "We did the things we needed to do to win," stated Bellmont's second-year head coach Larry Getts.
