August 8, 2012

LET THE BIG CAT PURRRR—Drexel Canales, affectionately known as "The Big Cat" by players and friends, recently won the BPA World Series Home Run Derby in Peoria, Illinois. Starting with 30 competitors, Canales had six homeruns in 10 swings including a blast of over 300 feet. The Big Cat, representing the Fort Wayne Stars Academy, sealed the derby crown when he hit five more dingers in a play-off round. The 12-year-old slugger went 4-8 in the tournament competition and the team finished 1-2 losing to the 2011 WS champs. (Photo provided)
