The Bellmont Squaws won their contest against the Lady Patriots of Heritage the hard way on Wednesday night scoring five of their six runs in the bottom of the sixth to shock the visiting crowd, 6-5, at the Teepee.
Heritage led most of the way and were up 4-1 when they got an insurance run in the top of the sixth with the bases loaded and only one out. Coach Rick Burkhalter came out to have a chat with his junior Hailee Hormann.
The Bellmont girls won the events they expected to win Tuesday evening in a Northeast Hoosier Conference track triangular with Homestead and East Noble at Bob Worthman Stadium but they still fell far behind the other teams in the final score.
With seven first place finishes, Homestead squeaked past East Noble 66 to 62.5. Despite six blue ribbons, the Squaws managed just 38.5 points (30 coming on the first place finishes). Bellmont did not get any second place ribbons while picking up three thirds and three fourth place spots.
