MONROE—Adams Central's eight-game winning streak ended on Tuesday in the initial round of the 89th-annual ACAC boys' tournament.
Heritage used quickness and more timely scoring, especially in the last minute, to upend the Flying Jets, 56-51. AC is 8-2 and the Patriots are 6-6.
VAN WERT—It was off to the races early and often Tuesday night for the Van Wert Cougars as they easily dismissed the visiting Bellmont Braves 69-37 in non-conference boys cage action.
The Cougars of Coach Dave Froelich nailed their first three shots of the game for a 7-0 lead and never looked back. They continued their offensive assault against the Braves by hitting 18-26 (69.2 percent) of their first half shots and it was a 20-3 run in the second period that virtually eliminated the Braves from the game.
WOODBURN—On a quest for the Coliseum, the Woodlan Warriors hosted both the boys and girls teams from South Adams in the first round of the ACAC tournament on Tuesday night with the Lady Warriors taking the opening game 58-41 and the Starfire men winning a nail-biter 67-66.
