MONROE—A comeback rally in the second half fell short for the Adams Central girls basketball team Tuesday night as New Haven survived a quick AC blitz to gain a 46-33 non-conference win at the Hangar.
New Haven had led by 13 midway through the third period at 31-18 before the Jets, now 2-6 on the season, started to chip away at the Bulldog lead. Madison Carroll and Bess Fiechter scored baskets, the latter coming on an offensive rebound of a missed free throw.

A rock-solid second half by the Bellmont Braves led by a 19-point game performance by Payton Selking found the Braves posting a 43-39 victory over Heritage at the Teepee on Saturday.
Bellmont took just 15 shots in the second half but made 10 of them as they erased a 23-18 lead that Heritage owned at halftime to go up 31-29 at the end of the third period. In that stanza, Selking danced his way through the Heritage trees for a pair of baskets but perhaps his biggest shot of the night came just before the horn sounded.
In the second match of the NHC meet between East Noble at Bellmont Saturday at the Teepee, BHS sophomore sub 132-pounder Diego Hutker scored the first takedown against Knights' senior Nick Yoquelet.

Bellmont wrestling fans will get a rare treat tonight when the 9-2 Braves take on the 4-3 New Haven Bulldogs, and I'm not talking about the 1,030 wins that the two veteran coaches will take to the tussle.
No, mat fans will get to see the home debut of Brian Hakes, a new 205-pound senior heavyweight.
A couple of weeks ago, Hakes, already a three-sport standout for two high schools, was just minding his own business at Bellmont High.

ROCKFORD, Ohio––A game that Adams Central coach Aaron McClure called "ugly" because it lacked the offensive flow his team displayed in its first two outings still went AC's way at Parkway on Saturday.
The 57-43 victory that made the Flying Jets 2-1 and left the Panthers 0-2 came as the two sides swapped 10-0 runs in the fourth period and featured more fireworks from Jet star Maverick Baumer.
BERNE — South Adams dominated the Spencer Hayworth Invitational Saturday, rolling to 11-0 on the season by taking 57 of 70 matches in posting five convincing victories.
In their biggest challenge of the day, the Starfires thumped Jay County 64-16, winning 11 of the 14 matches. Jay finished the day 4-1 and is now 11-2 on the season.
NEW CASTLE — No. 19 New Palestine won the final three matches by fall, defeating Bellmont 42-33 Saturday at the New Castle Super Dual, and despite a loss to Pendleton Heights the Dragons earned the overall title by scoring the most points on the day.
Eighth-rated Bellmont, now 9-2, defeated Pendleton Heights 33-31 and finished the day 4-1, in a three-way tie at the top. The Braves also downed New Castle 69-12, Franklin County 60-18 and Whiteland 81-0.

MONROE—Adams Central ripped through the warm water of the AC pool Thursday night to post a pair of lopsided wins over Coldwater with the boys demolishing their opponent 148-18 and the girls won via a 103-65 tally.

BERNE— For the first time in a span of about a season and a half, 24 games to be exact, the Lady Starfires of South Adams won a basketball game, and they did it in dominating fashion over the Muncie Burris Lady Owls, 56-39.
Coach Ryan Cunningham, now 1-5, paced the sidelines for most of the game grumbling about the turnovers in the game, and with good reason. His team had 32 of them.
The good news for SA was that Burris had 47.
