Squaws cruise by Warriors in 3

August 19, 2011

The edge that Craig Krull's Squaws took to Bishop Dwenger Tuesday was definitely not present last night as the defending 3A state champs had their home opener, taking out Woodlan with a less-than-spectacular showing, 25-12, 25-15, and 25-15.
"We didn't seem to  have a whole lot of energy. I think we were caught off guard because the jayvee match lasted about a half hour and we were still in the locker room, so we got off to a slow start," explained Krull.

"I've been telling the kids that this is definitely not the same Woodlan. They'll have a lot of quality athletes," stated first-year Bellmont coach Larry Getts on the Friday, season-opening opponent of the Braves.
Woodlan will be coached by veteran Sherwood Haydock, who spent 11 years coaching the Harding Hawks, taking them to a state championship.
With Harding closed, Haydock, and his 233-pound son, Zac Bo, moved down the road to Woodlan as he takes over for Barry Ehle.

FORT WAYNE — Bellmont lost three Division-1 players from it's 3A state championship team. Here's the bad news for the Squaws' opponents, it was hard to tell much difference in quality Tuesday in the season opening sweep at Bishop Dwenger.
"We might surprise some people," said Bellmont coach Craig Krull, who obviously was very pleased with what he witnessed in the 25-19, 25-18, 25-7 wins in the Saints' gym.
