MONROE—Adams Central was on the short end of 4-3 and 6-1 tallies in a varsity softball doubleheader played Saturday against Angola at the AC diamond.
The opening game went extra innings with Meghan Schwartzengraber's two-out double scoring the game-winner in the top of the eighth. Schwartzengraber also homered for Angola in a three-run fourth off losing AC hurler Sydnee Peterson and went the distance on the mound to collect the win with seven strikeouts.
The Decatur Baseball Association officially kicked off its season Saturday with Opening Day festivities. Besides two official games and a practice game, pictures were taken of most of the teams, and Courtesy Motors General Manager Jim Kelley attended and tossed out the first ball.
Through a national Chevy Youth Baseball Program, Courtesy Motors of Decatur is backing Decatur Baseball with equipment, a monetary contribution, and through the sale of raffle tickets for two automobiles and other prizes.
