Bellmont’s wrestling Braves, rated No. 11 in the preseason Indiana Wrestling Coaches poll, will open their season at Columbia City Tuesday night
in the annual NHC opener. Veteran coach Brent Faurote, beginning his
23rd season at the helm, welcomes back most of his starting lineup after losing just three senior starters through graduation. However, the Braves may start the season without a regular 103-pounder.
Bellmont senior center Madison Schultz continued her inside dominance Saturday night, scoring 15 points to lead Bellmont to a 50-41 victory over Heritage in an area non-conference girls basketball game.
Dana Kaczmarek scored nine points and Payton Schultz seven for Bellmont. No other statistical details were released by the school.

Bellmont took six first places and swept first and second in two of the three relays to easily roll pas Bishop Dwenger and Bishop Luers in a three-way season-opening meet at Bellmont Thursday.
The Squaws rolled up 152 points to the 100 of Dwenger and the 74 of Luers.
Bellmont did particularly well in the freestyle events, showing its depth with first and second in both the 200 and 400 relays.
After the first non-losing record in six years (an 11-11 mark last season), Adams Central's girls' basketball program looks for even better things in 2010-11 and, with no seniors on the squad, in 2011-12, as well.

Bishop Dwenger jumped out to a 29-21 lead at the half and then held off a late Bellmont rally to post a 47-39 non-conference girls varsity basketball win at the Teepee Tuesday night.
It was opening night of the season for the Squaws who had to push back the start of their girls season due to the state championship volleyball run. The fact that "we're still not in basketball shape" and "first game jitters" were noted as factors in the BHS loss by coach Tory Fuelling.
HARTFORD CITY — Adams Central's girls swim team, under new coach Patti Sauer, topped Blackford but fell to a strong Norwell team in a triple-dual Tuesday held at Blackford.
The Knights tallied 167 points to the 97 of AC and 58 of the hosts.
Only Adams Central results were reported.

"We've got 15 girls who want to play basketball, they enjoy being here and they're hustling and doing everything they can to get ready for the season," stated Bellmont girls basketball coach Tory Fuelling Monday afternoon as he squeezed in a picture session, taking valuable practice time away from his team, which has had little of that to prepare for tonight's opening game with Bishop Dwenger at the Teepee.
In the opening bowling action of the season, the South Adams boys tipped Bellmont because of total team points in a close varsity match at Haworth Lanes, while the BHS varsity girls scored a 17-3 victory.
