FORT WAYNE — In a bout both sides considered a swing match, Bellmont junior Dewey Melcher headlocked Jeff Clark, scoring one of five Bellmont pins in a 39-31 victory over Carroll Thursday at the Chargers' gym.
Melcher actually trailed 2-0 going into the second period and was on top of Clark, who tried to scramble out but was caught by Melcher, who finally go the trip he wanted and put the match away in 2:48, giving the Braves an impressive 27-13 lead.
BLUFFTON — South Adams, rated No. 1 earlier this week in a Class A poll put out by Indianamat.com, remained unbeaten, but had a big scare, tipping ACAC foe Leo 34-33 in a conference triple-dual meet Thursday.
The Stars improved to 21-0 overall and 6-0 in the ACAC with only Southern Wells left on the slate. They've clinched at least a share of the ACAC regular-season title by beating the other three contenders, Leo, Garrett and Adams Central.
