MONROEVILLE — Adams Central survived a pair of comeback rallies from Heritage Tuesday night and moved on to Thursday night's semi-final round of the ACAC volleyball tournament with a 25-22, 25-18 victory over the Patriots.
All eight conference teams were in action Tuesday at Heritage with ACAC leader Woodlan whipping Southern Wells 25-14, 25-3, Leo downed South Adams 25-15, 25-18, and Garrett handed Bluffton a 25-18, 24-26, 26-24 decision in the closest match of the night.
The South Adams boys took four of the top seven places and easily beat the field Tuesday to win their second straight ACAC Cross Country championship at the Adams Central course.
In the girls race, Leo toppled two-time champ South Adams, 40-55, for the crown, though SA junior Hannah Moore won her second ACAC individual title, adding to her crown in 2008.
Defending boys' champ Evan Liechty of South Adams finished second to teammate Eric Isch Tuesday as Isch roared in at 16:39 to the 17:08 of Liechty.
