"We'll be ready to play. I'll be very shocked if we're not," stated Bellmont football coach Rick Burkhalter as his Braves prepare to meet the state's No. 1 3A team, Eastbrook, Friday night at Bob Worthman Stadium.
A year ago, the Braves apparently were not ready for the Eastbrook style in a stunning 34-0 loss in the sectional title game. Eastbrook later lost to eventual state champ West Lafayette.
"There's probably any number of teams that could win it," stated Churubusco coach Lee Etzler on Sectional 35's possibilities for a champ.
"There are quite a few teams that have shown good success this year. The team that wins is going to have to show up each and every week with their A-game, that's for sure," said Etzler whose Churubusco Eagles play host to Adams Central Friday night in one of the early critical games. The No. 3 Eagles come in at 8-1, while the improving Jets are 7-2.
