December 23rd
Walter E. "Gene" Bienz, 79, of Washington Court House, Ohio, died on December 21, 2011, in Ohio State University's Medical Center at Columbus.
He was born on July 8, 1932, in Willshire, Ohio, to Kermit and Irene Spitler Bienz.
Mr. Bienz was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, a former member of the Vestry, and a past Junior Warden and Senior Warden.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.
Billy D. Harrold, 32, Montpelier, died Wednesday in Fort Wayne.
He was married to Amber (Ramsey) Harrold on December 15, 2009, in Decatur. She survives.
Among survivors are his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Duane (Melissa) Smitley of Decatur.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Walker and Glancy Funeral Home in Montpelier, with burial in Brookside Memorial Park, Montpelier.
The name of one of Rev. James S. Hook's sons, Matthew (Jody) Hook, was inadvertently left out of the obituary notice in Thursday's edition.
December 22nd
Rev. James S. Hook, 82, formerly of Decatur, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2011, in Indianapolis.
Rev. Hook was born on December 18, 1929, in Wells County to the late Ralph and Caroll (Schlagenhauf) Hook.
He served the Indiana United Methodist North Conference for 39 years before retiring from St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Decatur.

Helen Morgan, 102, formerly of Hoagland, died Wednesday morning at Park Place Senior Community in Fort Wayne.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home, Decatur.
December 20th
Dora S. Fleming, 97, of Decatur, died on Monday in the nursing center at Woodcrest Retirement Community.
She was born on May 24, 1914, in Adams County to Ernest and Minnie Fuhrman Doehrman.
Among survivors are two sons, Allen L. Fleming of Grove City, Florida, and James W. Fleming of Angola, and one daughter, Mrs. Paul (Kathleen) Bergdall of Decatur.
No funeral service will be held. Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery at a later date.
Mary Lou Krick, 64, of Decatur, died on Monday in Adams Memorial Hospital.
She was born to William and Leotta Smith Doll Jr., who are deceased.
Among survivors are two sons, Aaron and Ryan Krick of Decatur; five sisters; and two brothers, including Bill Doll of Geneva.
No funeral service will be held. Burial will be in Beery Cemetery of Adams County.
Visiting hours are 5-8 p.m. Wednesday in Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur.
Jana L. Wynn, 65, of Berne, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2011, at Swiss Village Retirement Community in Berne.
Jana was born on March 7, 1946, in Adams County to the late Charles C. and Nolda G. (Agler) Hendricks.
On July 16, 1966, she married David A. Wynn.
Jana was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Decatur and a former choir member. She was also a homemaker.
December 19th
Paul C. Neuenschwander, 95, of Berne, died Saturday at Swiss Village Retirement Community.
He was born to Leon and Hilda Sprunger Neuenschwander.
Among survivors are two sons, Jerrold Neuenschwander of Berne and Ted Neuenschwander of Newark, Ohio, and two sisters, Mrs. Merlin (Alice) Sprunger and Louise Miller of Berne.
