Hazel Gerardot

    Hazel Gerardot, 89, a resident of Decatur for 65 years, died at 12:15 p.m. Sunday in The Village of Heritage nursing home at Monroeville.    
    She was born on December 12, 1920, in Salem, Illinois, to Etta Vaughn Beck.
    She married Lawrence E. Gerardot on January 18, 1939, in St. Louis Catholic Church (Besancon); he passed away on April 15, 1997.
    Hazel was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville, loved to play euchre, and was a homemaker.

R. Maxiene Lantz

    R. Maxiene Lantz, 90, of Berne, died Monday in Swiss Village Retirement Community.
    She was born to Alfred and Maybelle Hoover Hollinger.
    Among survivors a son, Richard Lantz of Holland, Ohio, and four daughters, Mrs. Dennie (Sarah) Baumgartner and Mrs. Sherman (Virginia) Lichtenberger, both of Berne; Sally Stuckey of Lafayette; and Janis Stover of New Philadelphia, Ohio.

Elma L. Selking

    Elma L. Selking, 81, of Decatur, died at 12:30 a.m. Monday in the nursing center at Woodcrest Retirement Community, where she had resided since February of this year.
      She was born on January 11, 1929 in Adams County to Emil W. and Hilda V. Buechner Krueckeberg.
      She married Richard A. Selking on July 31, 1955, in St. John Lutheran Church at Convoy, Ohio; he passed away on April 26 of this year.

Nancy L. Helm

    Nancy L. Helm, 68, of Decatur, died at 11:30 a.m. Friday at her sister's home in Osceola, Indiana.
    She was born on November 9, 1941, in Adams County to George D. and Kathryn L. Archbold Helm.
    She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Decatur and retired from North Adams Community Schools after many years as a kindergarten teacher at Monmouth Elementary School.

    R. Maxiene Lantz, 90, of Berne, died this morning at Swiss Village retirement center in Berne.
    Funeral arrangements are pending at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home, Berne.

Roxann Schible

    Roxann Schible, 55, of Fort Wayne, died on Thursday, October 7, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
    She was born on July 7, 1955, to the late Charles and Dorothy Spangler.
    She worked for Century Link Company in Decatur for 37 years and was a member of First Church of the Nazarene.
    Surviving are her husband, Brian Schible of Fort Wayne; one brother, Norval Spangler of Daytona Beach, Florida; one sister, Carol Rehm of Orland, Indiana; and three nephews: Brad, Doug, and Travis Spangler.

    Dennis R. Welker, 55, of Decatur, died at his residence on October 6, 2010.
    He was born on June 8, 1955, in Huntington to Melvin D. and V. Arlene (Pressler) Welker.
    On July 29, 1987, he married Nancy Wyatt.

    Paul F. "Buzz" Neal, 71, of Geneva, died Wednesday at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
    He was born in Adams County on April 12, 1939, to Waldo D. "Bud" Neal and Bernice P. Biery Neal.
    Among survivors are his wife, Jane; three sons, Mark Neal of Seymour, Tennessee; Tom Neal of Fayetteville, West Virginia; and Jim Neal of Geneva; and three stepsons, Kenneth Noble Jr. of Decatur; Kevin Noble of Eaton; and Waylan Niece of Huntington.

    Dennis R. Welker, 55, of Decatur, died at home on October 6, 2010.
    Funeral arrangements are pending at Haggard and Sefton Funeral Home, Decatur.

    James M. Beer, 47, of Decatur, died Saturday, October 2, in the nursing center at Woodcrest Retirement Community.
    He was born in Decatur on October 26, 1962, to Arthur and Corabelle Beer.
    Surviving are his father, who lives in Bluffton; three brothers, Terry and Gary Beer of Bluffton and Lynn Beer of Fort Wayne; and his companion, Kim Wolfe of Decatur.
    Private funeral services have already been held.
