Lucille K. Sprunger, 96, of Berne, died Tuesday at Swiss Village Retirement Community.
She was born to Henry and Cassie Schindler Winteregg.
Surviving are two daughters: Roxanne Leichty of Newport News, Virginia and Mrs. Ted (Lana) Schwartz of Berne; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Max E. Andrews, 78, of Placentia, California, a former Decatur resident, went to be with his Lord and Savior on the 27th of February.
He was born on August 7, 1932, to True "Tabby" and Elsie Andrews.
He was a petty officer and gunner's mate in the U.S. Navy and retired from International Harvester with more than 30 years of service.
His hobbies were reading and politics. After moving to California, he and his wife enjoyed watching the Los Angeles Lakers.
Bernice Eileen Mathys Bransteter, 88, a resident of the Swiss Village Retirement Community in Berne, passed away at 8:07 a.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2011, at Swiss Village.
Bernice was born on January 10, 1923, in Geneva, the daughter of Clinton and Jessie (Runkel) Mathys, both deceased.
Bernice was a member of First United Methodist Church in Geneva.
She was a retired employee of the C.T.S. Corporation in Berne with 20 years of service, eight of those years as a lead lady.
Peggy L. Fortney, 78, of rural Convoy, Ohio, died on Thursday in Adams Memorial Hospital,
She was born to Cyrus and Lula Roberts Cranor.
Among survivors are her husband, Harold B. Fortney; one daughter, Mrs. Ed (Ilona) Welker of Convoy; and two sons: Jody Fortney of Ashland, Ohio and Michael Fortney of Crawfordsville, Indiana.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Countryside Chapel United Methodist Church of rural Convoy, with burial in IOOF Cemetery at Convoy.
LeOrace D. "Lee" Neuenschwander, 82, formerly of Geneva, died Saturday in Swiss Village Retirement Community in Berne.
He was born in Adams County on February 6, 1929, to Joel M. and Cora Winteregg Neuenschwander.
Among survivors are his wife, Betty; one son, Richard "Rick" Neuenschwander of Berne; and three daughters, Mrs. Ron (Kathie) Patterson of Berne, Mrs. Jeff (Carole) Billington of Bryant, and Mrs. Arne (Lori) Liechty of Berne.
Barbara E. Flynn, 60, of Galva, Illinois, died Monday at home.
She was born to Milan and Evelyn Moore.
Among survivors are her husband, Jesse Flynn; two daughters, Mrs. Tony (Tammy) Moss of Rock Vail, Tennessee, and Nicole Jackson of Fordyce, Arkansas; and three sons, Larry Warnack of Decatur, James M. Kelly II of Fort Wayne, and William A. Kelly of Galva.
There is no funeral service or visitation. The body was cremated.
Treva M. Ruble, 95, of Decatur, died at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the nursing center at Woodcrest Retirement Community.
She was born on July 25, 1915, in Monroeville to Ralph A. and Huldah F. Marquardt Barkley.
She married Romey R. Ruble on July 23, 1932, in Decatur; he passed away on January 6, 1988, after 56 years of marriage.
Treva was a homemaker and, at age 73, began employment at The Hope Chest and also at the Adams County Council on Aging, both in Decatur.
Ruth R. Riley, 92, formerly of Willshire, Ohio, died at 1:35 p.m. Sunday in Van Crest Healthcare in Van Wert, Ohio.
She married Norris R. "Shorty" Riley on November 11, 1939, in Wren, Ohio; he passed away on June 2, 1988.
Surviving are one daughter, Janet Whitaker of Van Wert; one sister, Mrs. Floyd (Rosalie) Kirkland of Berne; one brother, Noel Thatcher (and wife Barbara) of Decatur; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Donald E. Kipfer, 84, of Bluffton, died at 3:55 p.m. Friday in Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
He was born on August 10, 1926, in Adams County to David and Fannie Reinhart Kipfer.
He married Norma Jean Lautenschleger in Decatur on March 25, 1950; she survives.
He was a group leader at Franklin Electric Corp. in Bluffton for 30 years, until retiring in 1988. He also worked for Steve's Landscaping for 10 years.
Grace Doreen Kammeyer was born on January 19, 1939 in Decatur, Indiana, the first child of Dorothy and Norval Fuhrman.
She grew up in Decatur on her parents’ farm, with her brothers, John and Roy Fuhrman.
After graduating from Decatur High School, she attended Parkview School of Nursing in Fort Wayne and graduated as a registered nurse.
