Richard (Dick) Gage

January 3, 2012

    Richard “Dick” Gage, 78, of The Villages, Florida, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2012.
     Mr. Gage was born in Adams County and moved to The Villages from Bedford, Indiana in 1991. He was a member and past Exalted Ruler of the Elks 826 and a member of the Knights of Columbus 1166. Locally, he is a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church.

Brandon A. Heath

    Brandon A. Heath, 21, of Decatur, died Friday in Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne of injuries suffered when hit by a car while walking across 13th St. in Decatur on December 24.
    He was born to Douglass W. Heath of Van Wert, Ohio, and Cheri Goodwin of Decatur.
    Other survivors are one brother, Dustin W. Heath of Celina, Ohio; two stepsisters, Shawna Mergy and Mandi Fuerst of Van Wert; seven grandparents; and three great-grandparents.

Krystene A. Poper

January 2, 2012

    Krystene A. Poper 60, of Berne, passed away on Friday December 30, 2011, at Chalet Village Nursing Home.
    She was born on February 21, 1951, to the late Larry and Mildred (Backus) Pagley in New Castle, Pa.
    Krystene was a clown for Keystone Clowns in Pennsylvania.

Joyle J. Wilson

    Joyle J. Wilson, 91, a resident of Decatur the past six years, but formerly a lifelong resident of Wells County, died at 1:30 a.m. Saturday in her residence at Evergreen Court Apartments.
    She was born on February 3, 1920, in Wells County to Grover and Ida Vesta Sands Denney.
    She married Ralph E. Wilson on January 20, 1940; he passed away on February 14, 2009.

Walter L. Watters

    Walter L. (Wally) Watters, 77, of Decatur, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2011, at his residence.
    He was born on February 6, 1934, in Fort Wayne, to the late Herman C. and Agnes U. (Bagley) Watters.
    He married Connie J. Syndram on June 11, 1955.

John Clark IV

    John Clark IV, 84, a longtime Decatur resident and a former member of the Decatur City Council, died at 1 p.m. Thursday in the nursing center at Woodcrest Retirement Community.
    He was born on April 18, 1927, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
    He married Carolyn J. Lambert on August 27, 1955, in Fort Wayne. She passed away on December 30, 2003.
    John was a teacher in the North Adams Community Schools for 31 years, retiring in 1988. He previously taught in Huntertown.

Christian D. Wickey

    Christian D. Wickey Sr., 78 of Woodburn, formerly of Berne, died Thursday in Adams Memorial Hospital.         He was born to Daniel S. and Mary (Schwartz) Wickey.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine J. (Hilty). Surviving are two sons, Christian D. (Suzanne) Wickey Jr. of Woodburn and Sam C. (Regina) Wickey of Monte Vista, Colo.

    John P. Koors, 87, of Decatur, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2011, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
    John was born in Tipton, Indiana, on January 31, 1924 to Joseph H. and Elizabeth (Dane) Koors.
    On February 12, 1946, John married Florence T. Geimer.
    John was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Decatur and its Holy Name Society and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Lela I. McCollum

    Lela Isca McCollum, 101, of rural Geneva, passed away at 12:20 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at her residence.
    She was born on Thursday, May 12, 1910, in Wells County to James and Ida Marker Pace.
    Mrs. McCollum had been a longtime resident of Wabash Township. She formerly attended Apple Grove United Brethren Church in Geneva and had attended Nottingham Township School in Wells County.
    She enjoyed quilting, sewing, canning, flowers, gardening, and fishing.
