Dennis Sroufe, 51, of Geneva, died on Friday, November 11, 2011.
He was born on December 28, 1959, to Bud and Penelope Sroufe.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Seler Sroufe; three brothers, Jim, Allen and John Sroufe; and a stepson, Nicholas.
The funeral service will be on Thursday at 2 p.m., with visitation one hour prior at C.M. Sloan and Sons Funeral Home, 1327 N. Wells St., Fort Wayne. Pastor Wayne Guilliam will officiate.
Merlin E. Bixler, 79, Greenfield, former Berne police chief, died Friday at his residence. Merlin was born in Adams County and married Carol (Lehman), who survives.
He was Berne chief 1978-1992. While living in Berne he was employed at Yager Furniture and Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home for many years. For over 10 years he was director of the Adams County EMS and was the custodian of the MRE Cemetery.
Survivors include a son, Randy (Kay) Bixler, LaGrange, and a daughter, Brenda (Bob) Bertsch. Greenfield.
Bonnie C. Herman, 62, of Decatur, died at 10:40 a.m. Friday at her residence.
She was born on September 13, 1949, in Decatur to Earl M. and Alta May Ruhl Caston, who are deceased.
She married DuWayne Herman on September 15, 1979, in Zion Lutheran Church at Decatur; he survives.
She was a marketing assistant for Family LifeCare in Berne (formerly Family Hospice and Palliative Care of Northeast Indiana) and had served as a hospice social worker.
William H. Journay, 92, of Decatur, died at 11:15 a.m. Friday at Woodcrest Nursing Center.
He was born June 9, 1919, in Jay County, the son of Orla J. and Cora A. (Bibler) Journay. On August 31, 1947, he married the former Eva Marie Bischoff.
He was a farmer and a science teacher. He first taught at Madison Township Schools and later taught at Bellmont High School for 31 years before retiring in May of 1981.
Izaiah Michael McDonald, 10 days old, of Decatur, died Friday in Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
He was born on November 1 in Fort Wayne.
Surviving are his mother, Ashley McDonald of Decatur; the maternal grandmother, Lois Landers of Decatur; and the maternal great-grandfather, Waynard Habegger of Decatur.
A private family service will be held on Tuesday in Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur.
Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery.
Lois C. Wheeler, 96, formerly of Geneva, died Friday in Swiss Village Retirement Community at Berne.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Downing and Glancy Funeral Home, Geneva.
Eileen A. Andrews, 94, of Decatur, a former Adams County Clerk, died at 6:05 a.m. Thursday in the nursing center at Woodcrest Retirement Community.
She was born on March 15, 1917, in Decatur to Lottie A. and Verda M. Bigham Jackson.
She married John F. Andrews on November 27, 1938, in Zion Reformed Church of Decatur; he passed away in 1996.
She served for three years as Adams County Clerk and was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Decatur.
Naomi I. Buckey, 90, of Huntington, a former Geneva resident, died Wednesday at Norwood Health and Rehabilitation.
She was born in Geneva on January 8, 1921, to Theodore and Bertha B. Snow Pusey.
Among survivors are a daughter, Mrs. James (Susan E.) Carter of Huntington, and a sister, Mary Pusey of Geneva.
James Fisher, 78, formerly of Celina, Ohio, died Wednesday in Van Wert, Ohio, Hospice Center.
Among survivors are his wife, Martha; a son and five daughters, including Mrs. Gary (Debra) Hamrick of Willshire.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Kessler Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were by Cisco Funeral Home in Celina.
Colleen J. "Connie" Miller, 82, of Van Wert, Ohio, died Wednesday at Van Wert In-patient Hospice Center.
Among survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Byron (Darlene) Gregory of Kansas City, Missouri, and Mrs. Rick (Susan) Farley of Carmel.
She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Decatur.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert, with burial in Woodland Cemetery of Van Wert. Visiting hours are 4-8 p.m. Saturday.
