Leland "Gene" Welker, 84, of Bemidji, Minnesota, died on Monday, January 10, 2011, at North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji.
Leland Eugene Welker was born on December 5, 1926, in Monmouth to Harley "Chip" Welker and Christena (Rumschlag) Welker. His mother died when he was an infant and he was raised by an uncle and an aunt, Frank and Rose Loshe.
He grew up and attended school in Decatur.
January 13th
Dean Arven, 91, of Logansport, died Wednesday at a hospital in Kokomo.
Among survivors are two brothers-in-law, Donald H. Harvey of Monroe and Gary Harvey of Decatur, and one sister-in-law, Jane Parker. His wife, the former Dixie Harvey of Adams County, is deceased.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Gundrum Funeral Home at Logansport, with burial in Rochester. Visiting hours are 4-7 p.m. on Friday.
Alfred W. Schott, 83, of Rockford, Ohio, died at 8:24 a.m. Tuesday in Inpatient Hospice Center at Van Wert, Ohio. He was ill only a short time, following an accident at home on January 7, 2011.
He was born on August 28, 1927, in Mercer County, Ohio, to Frederick W. and Wilhelmina Emerick Schott.
He married Barbara L. Mathews on March 19, 1946, in Chattanooga, Ohio; she survives.
Sam H. Yager, 92, a resident of Berne, passed away at 10:05 a.m. on Monday, January 10, 2011, at Swiss Village Retirement Community.
Sam was born on March 6, 1918, in Adams County, the son of William and Lucinda (Hocker) Yager.
He married Frieda Myers on June, 6, 1940, and she survives.
Sam was a member of Bethel Brethren Church in Berne, where he served as a deacon and a trustee.

Lorna M. Bultemeier, 84, of Bossier City, Louisiana, died the morning of January 6 in Grace Hospice Home at Shreveport, Louisiana.
She was born on April 7, 1926, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Edward B. and Mildred Porath Blum.
She married Erwin C. Bultemeier; he passed away on May 2, 1969.
She retired in 1992 from the continuing education department at Lutheran Hospital at Fort Wayne and was a former member of St. John Lutheran Church at Bingen.
January 11th
Lorna M. Bultemeier, 84, formerly of Fort Wayne, died January 6 in Bossier City, Louisiana.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur.
Robert L. Aspy, 95, of Hartford City, a longtime resident of Geneva, died Sunday in Hartford City.
He was born in Geneva on April 14, 1915, to Floyd and Kathryn E. Cook Aspy.
Surviving are a son, William Aspy (and wife Teresa) of Hartford City; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Kevin Alan Brantly, 52, of Decatur, died at his residence on January 4, 2011.
Alan married Laura Bieberich on January 29, 1995.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Brantly of Decatur; three daughters, Mrs. Scott (Tara) Watkins of Florence, Mississippi; Mrs. Daniel (Kelly) Walker of Decatur; and Mrs. Doug (Vicky) Jackson of Monroe; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at a later date.
Dorothy Lucile Korte, 80, of Decatur, died at 8:45 a.m. Monday at her residence, following a 10-year battle with cancer.
She was born on November 28, 1930, in Convoy, Ohio, to Herman and Muriel Scaer Etzler.
She married Edwin Korte on June 27, 1953, in Convoy; he survives.
