Priscilla H. Wharem, 70, of Berne, died Saturday in Adams Memorial Hospital.
She was born to Francis and Eldora Mendenhall Slagle.
Among survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Jay (Mary) Johnson of Fort Wayne and Mrs. Gary (Angela) Anderson of Epping, New Hampshire; two sons, Richard Alford of Huntington, and Robert Justus of Epping; and a special friend, John Schwartz of Berne.
Visitation and remembrance will be 1-6 p.m. Wednesday at Glancy-H. Brown and Son Funeral Home in Warren.
Arrangement are pending at Haggard and Sefton Funeral Home for Lavera A. Fickert, 92, of Decatur, who died Wednesday in Adams Memorial Hospital.
Henry M. Schwartz, nine months and 24 days old, of rural Monroe, passed away at 2:50 p.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2011, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.
He is survived by his parents, Samuel P. and Mary A. Schwartz of rural Monroe; a brother, Samuel M. Schwartz, at home; the paternal grandparents, Peter A. and Elizabeth Schwartz of rural Monroe; the maternal grandparents, Aaron J. and Mary S. Zook of rural Canaan, Indiana; and the maternal great-grandparents, Christy M. and Katie Schwartz of rural Berne.
Roderick Duane “Rod” Beer, 73, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away from cancer on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, with family and friends at his side.
Rod was born on February 3, 1937, in Decatur.
John L. Bercot, 76, of Berne, died Tuesday in Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
He was born in Adams County on June 14, 1934, to Louis and Alice Schaefer Bercot.
Among survivors are one son, Jeffrey L. Bercot of Geneva; two daughters, Mrs. Nace (Debra) Romero of Morrison, Colorado, and Rebecca Muhlenkamp of Bluffton; one brother, Chet Bercot of Decatur; and five sisters, including Mrs. Roger (Harriet) Burkhart and Mrs. Melvin (Sharon) Burkhart of Decatur.
Lavera A. Fickert, 92, of Decatur, died Wednesday in Adams Memorial Hospital.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Haggard and Sefton Funeral Home, Decatur.
Rev. Arthur B. Neuenschwander, 86, of Forest, Virginia, a former Berne resident, died Monday in Forest.
He was born in French Township of Adams County to Homer E. and Frances Gerber Neuenschwander.
Among survivors are two sons, Marc Neuenschwander of Sheridan, Indiana, and Jon Neuenschwander of Westminster, Colorado; one daughter, Mrs. Donald (Peggy) Fowler of Forest; and two brothers, including Dallas Neuenschwander of Berne.
Leroy F. Walters, 77, of rural Decatur, went to his heavenly home on January 26, 2011.
Leroy was born on August 9, 1933, in Adams County to the late Forrest S. and Xariffa M. (Barkley) Walters.
He married Ruth M. Gephart on March 27, 1959; she died on February 6, 1995. He married Sherril M. Bentz on May 24, 1997, and she survives.
Eldon L. Caley, 93, formerly of Markle, passed away at 12:50 a.m. on Sunday, January 23, 2011, at Coventry Meadows Health and Rehabilitation Center in Fort Wayne.
He was a 1935 graduate of West Union High School and a farmer for 45 years in Wells and Huntington counties.
He was Sunday School superintendent and teacher as well as a missionary chairman and an elder at Markle Church of Christ for over 30 years. He also was a former director of the Markle Cemetery Association.
Marie A. Hobrock, 89, of rural Decatur, died at 3:50 p.m. on January 19 in Adams Memorial Hospital.
She was born in New Bremen, Ohio, on April 8, 1921, to Henry and Anna Whilhelmina "Minnie" Klosterman.
Following her graduation from the eighth grade and having turned 16, Marie moved to Fort Wayne and became a housekeeper for a family for many years. This was necessary because during The Great Depression, the oldest child in many families would have to help support the family by earning an income.
