Ruth L. Peters, 85, Decatur, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Adams Woodcrest in Decatur.
She was born Wednesday, Oct. 17, 1928, in Allen County, the daughter of the late Henry and Minnie (Oetting) Wiegmann.
Ruth married Melvin W. C. Peters May 7, 1949; he preceded her in death April 20, 2003.
Ruth was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Preble, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid and the LWML.
Russell N. Jones, 76, Monroeville, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014, at his residence.
He was born Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1937, in Churubusco, the son of the late Nathan and Elma (Hutchinson) Jones.
Russell married Jean C. Gaskill Aug. 22, 1969, in Dixon; she passed away Sept. 26, 2005.
Russell was a member of the Moose Lodge 1311 in Decatur and Convoy Fox Hunters in Convoy, Ohio. He enjoyed trap shooting and fishing.
Becky B. Schwartz, 4, Berne, passed away at 4:20 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 8, 2009, in Adams County, to Chris J. and Bertha L. (Troyer) Schwartz; they survive in Berne.
Becky is survived by two brothers, Enos B. and John B. Schwartz, at home; a sister, Lizzie B. Schwartz, at home; maternal grandparents, David E. and Lizzie Troyer of Monroe; and paternal grandparents, John Q. and Rosie Schwartz of Geneva.
Sheldon L. Harris, 74, Winchester, died Thursday.
Arrangements are pending at Walker Funeral Home.
Marilyn J. Sprunger, 84, Decatur, died Thursday, June 26, 2014, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 6, 1929, in Decatur, to the late Leroy and Jennie M. (Frauhiger) Beer.
She married her husband of 61 years, Burl J. Sprunger, Nov. 16, 1952; he survives.
Dallas G. Neuenschwander, 80, Berne, died Wednesday, June 25, 2014.
Surviving are three sons, Rick Neuenschwander of Berne, Ron (Vicki) Neuenschwander of Kingman, Ariz. and Randy (Michelle) Neuenschwander of Westfield; a daughter, Rhina Neuenschwander of Levitown, Pa.; and a brother, Dwight Neuenschwander of California.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home.
Kenneth A. Byerley, 80, passed away, Tuesday, June 24, 2014.
He was born July 20, 1933, in Allen County to the late Lester and Gertrude (Rapp) Byerley.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked and retired from Dana in 1996 as plant superintendent. He was a member at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Thiele Road. Kenneth enjoyed spending his time fishing and farming.
Fred J. Filips, 54, Decatur, died Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 14, 1960, in South Bend, to Nicholas Filips and the late Lucy N. (Baker) Filips.
He married Marie D. Brunner April 28, 1990; she survives.
Fred was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 864. He was a Registered Nurse with Adams Memorial Hospital and previously had worked for Carter Lumber for 28 years.
Hazel M. Hammons, 93, Bluffton, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at Ossian Health and Rehabilitation.
She was born Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1920, in Union City, the daughter of the late Francis M. and Daisy M. (Blankley) Birum.
She married Dale Hammons July 5, 1939; he passed away Dec. 25, 2000.
Dora J. Beery 92, Decatur, passed away Monday, June 23, 2014, at Ossian Health and Rehabilitation.
She was born March 16, 1922, in Portland to the late Walter and Berniece (Burger) Wilkinson.
Due to the death of her parents at an early age, Dora and her three siblings were raised at Mooseheart Home for Children.
She married Donald W. Beery July 5, 1946; he passed away Jan. 8, 2013.
Dora was a homemaker and a member of the Moose Lodge 1311 in Decatur.
